The other day my car threw the P0325 code, which is knock sensor. Is it a pain to replace? I just ordered one from subaru, but i was wondering if i will have to take off the manifold to get to it?
my haynes manual says its 'under the intake manifold'.
if i was going to have to do that, i was going to order a manifold gasket to replace since i will have it off.
Thanks

It's not too bad, the manifold can stay in place.
It is at the left/rear of the engine. It's pretty deep, so, you'll need a long extension.

did you power wash your engine? because the can become cracked and water gets in them throwing the code.

no, i havent done anything. I 'recharged' my k and n drop in filter, then about 100 miles later it came on throwing that code.
I hopped in my car today to go to the carwash, and the service engine soon light didnt come on till the engine got to full operating temp.
Ill just replace the sensor and see where it goes from there.

it was easy as pie on my 2.2L and it's in a similar location as the 2.5's.

My local dealership wanted 97.95 for it.
genuinesubaruparts.com wanted 71 something i believe.
but i got mine from subaruparts.com for 74 something.

I did mine from Oreilleys for i think 60 bucks..
BUt it was pretty easy for me ( small, tiny man-boy hands) and about 6inches worth of extensions... getting it off is easy, putting it on is "annoying" if you dont take anything else off
I left my entire IM/TB on the car, and did it just fine, it just took longer :?:

On my 2.2 it was easy. I would recommend blowing the spot with air to remove any crud that has built up in the area before you take it off.
The mice like to make a nest there.

I left my haynes manual up at school.

Not much 12-16 ft-lbs... I cannot remember exactly though... Hand tight[read: hand tight meaning not ratchet tight]

I was just going to use a torque wrench. I knew it was somewhere around 16 so the haynes manual said, just couldnt remember.

welllllll i went to replace my knock sensor today but i cant find where it goes. i looked and looked, but couldnt find where it was on the motor. i found what looked like the wires to it but i couldnt tell where they were going. Anyone happen to have a picture or a better description where it is located on a 2.5l?
Thanks

directly below the center on the TB... ON the block, you have to look for it from the drivers side :)
