NGK Spark Plugs for H6

Anyone know where to get new NGK's for my H6? They are hella expensive at the local stealer and was wondering if anyone knew of a better price elsewhere?

don't buy copper our engine is pretty picky when it comes down to plugs but what more important is the amount of work you got to do to replace them with copper you'll have to go back there again pretty soon with iridium or platinum you wont. on subaruoutback.org there is a thread about how to change them and a few links to sites where you can get them for around 60 bucks.

P.S. Reason I didnt know you sold NGK PLFR6A-11 if so how much per set?

I agree, if you have a EJ22 it takes 10 mins to change your plugs. In a EJ25 it's closer to 45 mins to an hour (depending on your skill level). I never change plugs on a H6 nor do I know where they are positioned on the block. If they are a bitch to change go platinum or Iridium. If they are easy to change go copper.

Stay away from Bosh plugs!!!!

I had a pain changing out the plugs on a DOHC forester and I put those plugs in... UGH misfire so many times... finally got around to taking them back out.

I want to use good NGK's, but they only list one type and its very expensive.

With over 210,000 miles I know my baby needs some new plugs and O2 sensor, but for fucks sake its gonna cost me 600.00 in parts alone.

So just wanted to know if I can get them cheaper from the good folks here on the list.

NGK coppers are the best for our cars, period. Changing them every 30-40k miles is really no big deal when you consider they have twice the conductivity of Iridium and 4x that of platinum.

And yes, stay away from Bosch Platinums.

O2 Sensor 4 each at 120.00 = 480.00

At least 600.00 for parts.

looking at autozone you can get ngks from $2.09 to $7.99 a pop depending on the sub-model (dont have gps in stores)
napa doesnt sell ngks for the h6

to change plugs on h6 is a major pia front two are ok the back four got about an inch of space to put your wrench threw and to get them out, not to mention taking off 6 ignition coils, two ignition coil covers, remove washer fluid tank, battery, engine cover probably more that i cant remember. nothing like h4 that you guys have and as much as they cost im keeping my iridium.

Iridiums actually work on the H6? I thought the only recommended NGK was the Laser Platinum? (using NGK's part finder)

The poster is correct, the plugs are about 20.00 each, at the cheapest place I can find them.

I know for a fact that the H6 has 4 O2 sensors, at about 120.00 each.

I know that they should not be replaced unless you get a CEL, but I have noticed a driveability and mileage gain with new o2 sensors in the past.

And how many more miles can I expect them to last before I get a CEL?

220,000 miles? 240,000 miles? Its going to be sooner than later!

So if I am wrong, show me how wrong I am because it will save me $$$!

Still looking for the answers, you are all taking me back to where I started - 600.00 for a tune up!

Well, if you get a CEL, it shouldn't be necessary to replace all 4. I'm guessing 2 are pre cat, and two are post.

If you actually read decke48 thread you will notice he put down www.ngk.com (http://www.ngk.com) NOT www.ngks.com (http://www.ngks.com) Believe it or not that extra "S" makes a difference :wink:

You also have the wrong part number - those are for the 4 cylinder engine, not the 3.0 H6, they have a different part number that is about 24.00 at the stealer.

But only 11.00 at the www.ngk.com (http://www.ngk.com) site.
