So.. looks like im going to need to get some paint and minor body work done this summer.. as winter has taken a toll on my car. I need to get my front bumper repainted, and also noticed one of the doors has some minor surface rust starting to happen on the bottom of it (nothing too big).
Can anyone recommend a good shop in the NH / VT area that wont charge me a left testicle to get this work done? Anyone on the forums here do this kinda stuff who might wanna help me do it / teach me?
I've painted one car before.. but I have nowhere to do it currently, and no shop, and no tools.. or anything.
So ... basically looking for some ideas here. How much should it cost.. or better yet.. if someone wants to teach me / help me do it for some $ / beer. haha.
Thanks!

Prolly will help if you posted your exact location, that's a big area you are describing
Without a garage/tools/sprayer/prep area you are S.O.L for doing it yourself
Look up a local body shop and get a quote from them. Either that or find a MAACO
or.......buy 5 rattlecans at wally world and go flat black baby!!

haha.. flat black. If i was gonna rattle can it.. id just get some paint from paintscratch or a NAPA or something. Yes.. NH is a big area.. Mostly looking for the mid-west part of the state.. but really.. id drive anywhere for a good deal
And yes.. i dont have the equipment.. or a garage.. hence why i was asking if someone here might know someone, or has some themselves?
I'll prolly just ender up getting it done at a shop.. but, i know that can be quite pricey in this area. Things that need to be painted:
Bottom of door (after its sanded)
Front Bumper
Under-Door Handle pieces
How much does anyone estimate this may cost? I think some place here quoted me $350 on the front bumper.. which i find a bit high.. considering when i lived in FL i got a whole side skirt / front fender fixed up and done for under $250.

most paint places charge $100/hr plus a $45/hr(supply's) includes the body work. gets expensive for a place to do a good job. yes you could get it done at MACCO but unless you like orange peel, and over spray.

Yeah, im not sure how good the MACCO places are around here.. the closest one is about an hour away anyways.. so..not really worth the drive. I might ask this school around here to see if they paint cars outside of their class.. because its an auto body school type thing.. so might be worth a try.

Really? No shit.. hmm, haha maybe i'll have to contact them! LOL.. i mean, I'm sure it would be good enough for the few small pieces i need to get done. I'm going to contact the one around here as well and see if they charge anything.. that would be pretty sweet if they didnt.

Hey man - I'm looking into all that right now in our area. I know of a couple of guys Brat/Keene area and am going to start pricing it out. I'll let you know what I come up with. I'm hoping Rob may jump all over this, but I'm afraid he only does his own stuff. The way his new sedan came out is proof it would be worth your drive down here if he'll do contract type work. I'll keep you posted.

I rather pay a little bit more and get the job done right. I'm still pissed off a bit about getting my front nose painted. They did an okay job. The car so way better then before but I will take it to a better place next time and pay more to have it done right. I also need some painting done espacially my rear bumper.

It's actually prolly a good time to get it done, it just hurts to see that fresh paint job hit the first freaking salty road... I run up to Leb every day on 91, I end up washing my wagon every other day, it's really bad this year. Can't decide which is worse, the potholes or the salt, both suck. I just (I'm not sure why...) bought an SVX, so it looks like I'll prolly only be getting one of my wagons done. I'll let you know what I find out.

Yeah man, when you find out, hit me up via PM or something. Where you from anywhere? Where you work in leb? I actually live in l-town myself... so, thats interesting you run up this way everyday! What color is your wagon.. maybe i've seen you before? And yeah.. the pot holes are HORRIBLE this year.. gonna need new struts after this one!

Drive up from Hinsdale, work up by the airport. You wouldn't have noticed my green wagon (or not likely, it's pretty plain jane) - if you saw my blue gt, you'd prolly remember it...

Zomg i missed that post.
Average paint job is about $2500 from my father, could more little more, could be little less, depends on what needs to go into it. And that's not for a shit job.
For proof, like legwag said, look at my GT. I have a bunch of pics if anyone is interested.

Nope, didn't sell the blue gt wagon - i had pictures of it somewhere on this site, but i'm braindead and don't remember where. it's hard to miss, full tint, 17's and jdm visors, it's a bk with rack. rob's father does awesome work - there's better pics in here somewhere of his car (even though it doesn't give me as much of a woody as his old one - god i miss seeing that car   )
