i have a question. i know everyone does the complete engine converstion, wiring loom, computer, etc.

but being only 19, im unable to insure a turbo car until im 25 or it will cost thousands.

so if i was to build an NA engine until im 25 why couldn't i bolt on a turbo to the engine?

Because "built NA motor" and "turbo" just don't belong in the same sentence.

Built NA means high compression ratio.
Turbo means low compression ratio.

It makes about as much sense as grilling up some delicious cajun chicken and then topping it with vanilla ice cream. Also, I would hope in 6 years you put some money aside to replace your now nearly 16 year old car with something new and fresh. Which at that point might come stock with a turbo

I know I'm going to idle by with my NA wagon until I can get me a turbo diesel impreza hatchback.

Build a turbo engine and don't tell your insurance company. That's one solution. If you're in an accident though, you will get screwed.

You can run a turbo on a NA engine, just with very low boost, bigger injectors, a Fuel controller and perhaps a pump as well.

IMO it is better and easier to just swap over a turbo engine and do the wiring. What year vehicle do you have? do you have to worry about Emissions in the land down under? If you can get away with OBD-1, then go get a 93-95 WRX(sedan) EJ20G with wiring harness, fuel pump, engine crossmember, and a exhaust that fits the leggy. The wiring is pretty easy on the older engines and you will have a rocket for a car and your insurance will not go up. Plus you will have OEM relibality and can run stock ECU, so you wont have to worry about tuning.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Dont you guys have 93+ WRX's in Aussie land?
