Getting ready to do an exhaust and headers i pretty much know to go with the unequal headers but not sure on what type of set up to go with from there does anybody have any sound clips i know listen or tips so i can get an idea of what to look for or go with.

P.S im looking for the rumble sound more the performance factor.

Have you tried looking before you post? Everything you are looking for can be found on the first page of this section.

Yea i've looked at them but only a few actually work and the ones that do work really dont help me out in the fact that i have 99 and ones that work are around a 93.

OBX glasspack muffler $47 on ebay. 2.25" piping, no resonator. Was very bassy and droned in the wagon. I received compliments on the sound quite a bit though. But as a driver especially on trips it was unbearable.

Hooker aerochamber $65 from advance auto. WRX midpipe with stock resonator as well. Awesome sound. No drone, not very loud in the interior (in fact quiet if you're just driving around like normal) but really opens up when you put the foot in.

Both exhausts have the stock cats, stock headers.

Mine's a 96 with a 2.2, but an NA subaru motor is going to sound about the same across the years. Headers impact sound the most.

Most of them look like they work..... Anyways mine is working and I had a 97.

Well, go with the borla knockoff headers, you could keep your stock cats if you wanted, and then do a catback exhaust.

I'd go with an inexpensive muffler and have an exhaust shop make the rest of the piping for you, OR you could get ahold of an STi catback and have an exhaust shop modify it for you. It's already got the right bends, and it's mandrel bent stainless steel, it just needs to have a few hangers redone, and about 6" of piping added to the midpipe. Free resonator too! (that's the route I went).

I would suggest against this idea.

Buy a Borla knockoff from ebay and fit a more open axleback. Upgrade midpipe and stock cats to highflow items.

Done.

If you're looking for maximum performance, get EL.

If you're looking for a performance boost and that rumble, get UEL.

I've had both.

I have EL.
