where is the freakin thermostat located at I cant find it. I took off the upper radiator hose and its not there like on all my other cars I have had to replace it on. I'm lost on where it is at because the upper radiator hose connects in to a long tube. (of course) but the thermostat isnt there could someone please tell me where it is............by the way i feel like an idiot because i cant fi :cry: nd it

on the bottom of the engine. wear the lower hose
bolts up

Yep. And make sure you buy a subaru thermostat from the dealer. Don't buy a cheap auto store one.

well crap I replaced the thermostat and its still overheatin so its gotta be the water pump. how hard is that to replace?

Are you sure it's not your head gaskets?

an easy way to check for a head gasket is to remove the plugs and blow a air gun making sure its got a good seal and see if its blowing bubbles into the radiator. a water pump entitles to doing a timing belt job plus the removal of the pump not to hard. i hope its not a head..

yeah I hope not to but its gonna have to wait till monday till I know for sure. got to much goin on this weekend. but as soon as. I get the water pump put ob I'll let you guys know how it went and if that was the problem or not

does your engine oil look milky like? does it smell kinda sweet?

How about the obvious questions...

Did you install the thermostat the correct way? Did you buy an OEM subaru thermostat with the check valve? Did you bleed the air out of the system after flushing the radiator? Did you remember to plug your fans back in (if you worked around them and unplugged them, usually this is more an issue with water pump replacement).
