Ok i used the new search feature to no avail, anyway I bought a used head unit from a buddy, (Pionneer 52wx4 with all the god bells and whistles for 20$) ANYWAY its a single DIN and right now I have the factory tapedeck with CD player below it combo!, My problem or questions are, do i need a wiring harness, i seen a pic from another post of a OEM unit and the plugs look like they would be interchangeable, 2 where do i find a cubby to go under neither the new unit ?? all the audio places around said go to the dealer, its a D.O.P. (dealer only part) and i called all the subby dealers around and they told me that i would have to special order it for 45.00$////////

what are my other options???

my HU needed an adapter plug, it too was a Pioneer. Circut city installed it and gave it to me for free. I think you'll need the same piece. It's actually 2 adaptor plugs plugged in to one another connecting to the stereo.

For the 'cubby' you can check ebay or junkyards. Also, you could just make a plate of aluminum or wood wrapped in leather to cover the hole.

I believe it was shazapple that has a write up on how to install head units in the DIY section.
