I am looking at buying a 93 impreza with a sheered off crank key. Guy says it can't be fixed but the car runs GREAT....can I weld the pulley on as a temp fix till I can get a new engine?
I'm serious about this car and I would love an honost answer if anyone has one.

As long as the pulley is straight and the welds are solid there shouldnt be any problem (assuming the crank and puley are similar type metal). Could be a bit of a pain to get off though.

I thought that they were supposed to be separate with a spring tensioner so that if there was too much force applied nothing would break...
Could be wrong, guess if its already broke it doesn't matter.
