Got the projectors on eBay last year... paid $300ish. I've seen them going for a bit less on eBay lately.

can i ask if the Carbon Fiber Hood is the 'carbon fibre FX' one? or other? and if so, how you rate the quality and finish? as well as weight saving. I am in Australia and have been for a long while thinking of getting one shipped over from carbon fibre fx, but its an exxy excercise - so just looking for opinions.

very tidy ride! cheers.

The hood was from the original group buy on Nasioc which was done by Ion Performance, but were indeed badged Carbon Fibre FX.

Quality and finish of this hood is amazing. The edges are rolled and the weave is tight. It's basically an exact replica of the OEM hood except there is no scoop insert. It uses the stock mounting parts and fits perfectly.

Weight saving is about 30 lbs... the CF weighs in around 13 lbs and the stocker is about 45 lbs. The shipping of the hoods is the problem as they are very fragile...

Hope this helps.

thanks very much. its useful to get a indication of the weight, something CFX didn't know. hmmm, would look mint on my black car - not too obvious either :)

one last question. are their screw/bolt holes to mount a factory intercooler splitter under the scoop? or by the following do you mean that this is the case?

except there is no scoop insert. It uses the stock mounting parts and fits perfectly.

thanks.

you, my friend, are a muthafukkin pimp. i love the jdm door sills. Well, actually there isnt anything on your car that I dont like. You thought about getting a jdm grill with the legacy badge? would look kickass with your B4 badge.

:edit: the jdm grill that fits your bumper is different than mine. the B4 badge would fit better on that grill than it would on mine. Just a suggestion.

No, there aren't any holes to mount a factory splitter on the CF hood. Even if there was, I don't think you'd be able to fit a splitter because there isn't much room between the hood and intercooler due to the WRX engine sitting a bit higher than the 2.5L.

By no scoop insert, I meant there isn't that removable scoop bevel around the opening of the scoop like on the OEM hoods. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll try to answer them.

thanks for the reply Cajual. i have a custom splitter under the bonnet scoop feeding my tmic, so i'd have to figure out how to retain that. i hadn't even thought about the removable scoop insert. that's not really a drama though. cheers.

Update: Blew my tranmission about a week ago. Decided to convert the car to 5spd and I found a killer deal on this '97/98 5spd Legacy GT (came with an extra set of WRX wheels & JDM headlights):

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2009/04/legacy01-1.jpg

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2009/04/legacy02-1.jpg

I could have got this car running with just a little work, but I'm sacrificing it to save the silver beast. It's currently being dismantled and I will be swapping over the transmission and other miscellaneous parts and body panels that need replacing on my car. So the car is going to be a mish mash of silver and black for a while until I decide to paint it one color, LOL.

Reason
04-20-2009, 10:55 PM
I would love to score another Black GT (manual this time). Good luck with the swap, I know first hand it's a bitch to get all the stuff out. I don't think I ever want to perform the swap myself lol

Parts car is all stripped... my car is now being prepped for the transmission swap. Basically took all the major body panels off (jdm headlights, taillights, grill, front fenders, f&r bumpers, side skirts, hood and trunk), wheels, steering wheel, seat belt assemblies, gas tank (mine has a minor leak), front axles and all the transmission components needed for my manual swap. I would have taken out the sunroof, but its in worse shape than mine, LOL. Contemplated taking the doors, but I don't want to store them. I'm not bothering with any of the interior parts, so everything else is being junked.

Some of you may recognize JoeT's turbo BE on the lift in the background in the 1st pic...

No, it's a Greddy/Trust lip made for the BD/BG (JDM bumper - so it's not a perfect fit on the USDM GT bumper). If you are able to source one, be warned you will scrape everything if your car is lowered... mine is broken into 3 pieces after hitting a dead racoon.
