man i cant believe i am gonna stoop this low and think about using honda parts but can you custom fit a 90-94 honda accord body kit to a 90 legacy l sedan they look like they are the same dimensions and and are a whole lot cheaper than body kits for gen 1 legacys. i really do hate to ask this question but i want to make this car bad ass and dont really have the cash for a 600 dollar front bumper

Well you can do it when i went to the SVX meet in PA there was a guy Mike Boyer who did up his legacy with a honda body kit looks very hot check it out......... :blob6: although im not to sure how much more it would cost because hondas are a smaller car so the front and rear bumpers need to be widen and i think the skirts need to be a little longer too, but this is his car

I hate to say Honda part look good, but that looks nice. :-)

I don't hate to say it, that car is pretty hot. The only thing is, its missing something on the back trunk, its just too plain. Great fabrication, much better than the saturn/subaru conversion.

Besides, accords are not civics.

Ive seen a 2.5RS bumper fit onto a BD/BG legacy. It didnt look too pretty (wheel wells didnt match up, too much room below headlights) but it tells you that an impreza bumper will go onto our cars, with a bit of tweaking it could look good!

Again, it looks like a dodge neon.

I'm not too fond of the Civic lights molded into the rear, as I like the BD/BG tails (just tinted or with the JDM sides), but to each his own. The front however looks really good IMO. If I recall correctly, the front bumper is a Black Widow Accord bumper (somewhere around the 94 year model) and the sides and rear are from a civic bodykit. I believe the front needed 1-2" trimmed from the center and the sides and rear lip had to be extended. It's a lot of work, but the body work that's been done has been done so pretty well. I give the guy props.

As for Tristan, I thought we had all been told that durogatory comments didn't belong on SLi? If you can't add something constructive, especially outside of A&E, then why are you here?

jeez man, he said it looked like a neon. Why is looking like a neon a derogatory comment? You got something against neons? Hater.

 ;)

That's an incredible amount of work put in to that body. Something ya really gotta be careful about is that since filler/fibreglass/whatever has different bending characteristics than metal and PU, it's not unusual for the paint to crack later down the road as the kit is naturally bent from use. This alone would be enough to scare me away from modifying a kit for another car.

PM 2deadlegs, he has some info on some pretty cool front bumpers for 1st gen legacys. See what he can come up with for you.

Speaking of what other bodykits fit Legacy's... I was wondering if 98-99 Impreza kits fit 98 Legacy's?

Body shape is similar. It would probably seem easier to get an Impreza kit down here in Australia than a Legacy kit.

Do you guys know?

Thanks

Yes, Ive seen a RS bumper fit onto a legacy, although it wasnt pretty. There was a gap between the lights and bumper. Pictures at the bottom of this thread

I'll be different. I think the honda kit on the Legacy (above) looks like poo.

poo indeed, but, more than that, he seemed to miss a lot of prep work when doing half cuts on bumpers, or full custom you cant skimp out, i took almost 8 months with my car and i got rid of almost all waves!

I think it looks poo-irific too. One, the tails just look wierd (like said above, looks like a neon from the rear). Two, the front bumper, i just can't stand the side cowls just infront of the wheels, ruins an otherwise good looking bumper. BUT! the grill pushes the bumper down, and makes it sag away from the headlights, along with a horrible mesh at the fender, which is not apparent in the prepaint pics.

Also, overall all the parts seem mismatched and not matched to one another. The side skirt looks thin and cheap, and has too many wierd indentions along the bottom. The molded STi scoop is cool, and I think some tighter/smaller mirrors could really compliment the car. Switch the tail section to some JDM lights, with a center garnish, change the side skirt to something with some more beef, and just an altogether new rear bumper. Resolve the front bumper mounting issues, and you'll have a real good looking car. I am digging the wheels.

Oh well. To each his own, and I know he put alot of work into that car, it just doesn't strike my fancy, though it isn't as bad as the saturn legacy wagon.

Mranlet, the outback drifter put an S14 silvia bumper on his outback. It was maybe an inch too wide, but otherwise fit pretty well.

In general I do like it a lot, for me the rear lamps and the bare trunk don't do anything at all, in fact you can see why I didn't like mine with the center garnish removed, even though I left the licence plate on there, it was too bare.

On the side skirts, they do look like some we get over here in Europe which are universal, they actually have the rear section slide over the front, when they are fitted you then smooth the join, I did look at them for mine but I thought they wouldn't be right, not sure now but on this one they look good.

Loads of work as I well know and a testament to the guys work and effort.

It's like putting a dress on a pig. It just doesn't work. I will give it to that guy for the enormous amount of work he put into the car.

Just saw this, and I must say, it's sad that after all the work the guy put in, there are still some big errors (front gap under the lights from the grill pushing the bumper down) and the tailights.... words can't describe the horror.

And the fact that that front bumper still doesnt line up with anything resembling oem quality. FTL in my book, I dont care how much time he put into it, it was all a waste.

HAHA, it feels so good to be refered to as "the Outback Drifter"

Anyway, The bumper I used had accually been modified to fit a later term S14 with pulled fenders, so it's wider than the other S14 bumpers you can get through raceonusa.com or wherever. My bumper has since been crushed a little bit because my car is so damn low and 3-wheel-motion tends to be rough on the bodywork.

Here are some other pics of the bumper:

Required no modification other than a can of silver auto paint from Pepboys.
