I drove east in I-78 up to Route 1&9 around Newark. I took the on-ramp to the New Jersey Turnpike/Truck 1&9 exit and I see traffic slow down. I get to where the traffic slows down and I see a BIG pool of water.
Quick brain check - "It's not THAT deep... I saw a construction truck and an SUV go through there. Hmmm..."
I pull up to the pool of water. "Hmmm... it is kind of deep."
My wife is scared. Moment of truth - I tell myself "no matter what, don't let off the gas..." - and I punch it.
I must have cleared about 3 to 4 inches of water as I plowed through, scared straight, hoping to God that the car did not stall. I actually make it through and the car stutters as I approach the toll booths to get on the turnpike.
I pull over to the side of the road. 5 minutes later, we cautiously creep on to the turnpike and start on our way home. 20 minutes later, the car seems to be doing ok.
I'm going to be driving the car again today. Any noises/signs I should watch for? (On the bright side, my rims are cleaner )
