I can't find much on this. I'm getting a 5speed from a 99 RS. I'm also getting the driveshafts. I've read about a guy doing a swap in his 22t legacy, seems everything bolts up for the most part, and only a few wires had to be messed with to get the ecu to make everything work properly.
However, I don't know if this will be the same for my car. Will I need a new ecu? Or will the stock ecu work, and I just have to mess with the harness a little? Also, will the pedals fit?

PM Aussiedan, he's done this very thing before. Should be able to answer your questions. :-)

Haha, I haven't done auto->manual in a suby (I've done a couple of toyotas) but I can help you out with some info.
You'll need an MT driveshaft & 4.11 rear diff for sure, you may be able to use your AT axles, I'm not 100% sure on that.
You'll obviously also need a flywheel, clutch & MT clutch/brake pedal assembly & clutch master cylinder.
As for the wiring, most people seem to just leave the TCU plugged in which allows the ABS to work properly. You will need to wire up the reverse switch, clutch start switch & neutral position sensor. The 'proper' way to do it would be to compare the auto and manual wiring diagrams and mod your wiring harness to match the manual. If you go this route you will need an MT abs controller & MT ecu.
EDIT: You'll definitely need MT front axles to match your transmission, but your rear axles should work with an open diff. If you get an LSD rear diff you'll need LSD-compatible axles.

Forgot to mention, you will need an MT transmission subframe and mount.

Grrr, might be more hassle than it is worth if I have to change the axles...

Okay, tracking the parts anyway... I've been told by some of the nasioc guys said I can use the axles for the swap. Do I need a different front diff? How about the center diff?

The front and center diffs are part of the transmission.

Ive done a auto to manual swap in a non-abs 94 impreza. AussieDan has pretty much covered everything, the only other thing I can think of is, on the bottom of the Key tumbler there is like a "mechanical switch" that I had to mess with, I actually think I broke it, before the key would go into the ACC, On, Start positions. I dunno if the leggy shares the same design.
Hope this helps

you can use the front axles from your car. No need to search for new ones.
As Dan said, you basically need:
trans
MT driveshaft
4.11 rear to match trans
MT trans subframe
MT pedal set
MT shifter
Clutch
Flywheel
Clutch master and slave cyls + soft and hard line for setup.
The only thing that you need to wire up would be the reverse switch. Not really a big deal, should only be 2 wires that you need to tap into.
Dont need to wire in the clutch pedal start sensor unless you want that feature.
You will need to jump a wire on the harness so that you can get the car to start. Simple, just need to look at the pinouts on the wiring diagram.
Let us know how it comes out!

Okay, I've thought about it more. Verdict is.... No swap. It is going to be an estimated $600~1000 for the swap. What made me decide not to do it was the fact that the value won't increase enough, and after driving my dad's truck while I'm getting my radiator cleaned out I realized how crappy it is having a stick in california traffic.
Thanks for the help though guys.
