Okay, so looks like it's time for me to get some new rims..

Mostly looking for low(er) cost / gold or silver (or both), and either stock 16's.. or 17's.

The only reason i might want to stick with stock 16" is because of tire cost, the spare wheel, and because i may not lower my car anytime soon. But... 17's are appealing, and most of the ones i want seem to be 17's.

Anyone have any ups or downs on getting 17's in terms of costs / ride / practicality?

If anyone has any pictures of silver BD's, or any others with the rims you might suggest.. post em up!

Here are the ones I'm looking at:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Those ADRs does look nice..but like you said, not sure about the quality of the wheels.

but BBS looks hella nice on BDs

BBS RGRs $630 a piece
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/03/bbs_rgr_db_ci3_l-1.jpg

or ASA AR1s..has the license from BBS. so quality should be the same. and much cheaper at $130 a wheel.

The asa-bbs imitations look awesome. For a 2nd choice, Go with the Rotas.

The 1st set you have listed look awesome, but way, way too shiny for a legacy.

you really think the ADR ones are too shiny? What do you mean.. too much chrome, or just too bright? I dont actually think they are THAT bright in real life.. i think the pic is just way boosted contrast.. maybe not however. those bbs ones are nice.. i wonder how the spoke pattern would look on the BD. Its pretty close to the stock ones, just a bit diff. If anyone wants to post up pics too.. that would be great! :]

Seems like the 06 wrx rims are winning so far.. i really like those myself. Anyone have pics of them on the BD hidden somewhere? ... do you think they would look better in silver, or gold on my car? I think the gold nicely compliments the silver myself.

Either way, there is no reason to go with 16s when you can go with 17s.

^ Besides the spare tire, ride comfort, tire costs right? Or what do you mean? Why is a bigger wheel size necessarily better?

I meant purely from an aesthetic point of view. 17s looks better than 16s because you have more rim. This is what your going for right? looks?

Well.. mostly going for cost effective, looks, ride comfort. In that order mostly. However.. i suppose you are right about the 17's. But how are they going to look if i dont drop my car? Probably not too good huh? I'm mostly just getting them to replace my worn out stock ones.. however.. i might as well make it look good at the same time.

Did some Photochops' of the rims on my car.. couldnt find any good pics of the interspeed yet. Added them up top.

Wow, I might have to change my mind and go with the RS wheels. They look pretty awesome on the BD.

If you don't drop your car, the 17s will make the gap more noticeable.

I say rock the WRX wheels, and buy some suspension.

Hmm, well.. i do need to do the struts anyways.. only thing i dont like about any of the lowering springs made for the BD series.. is that it ALWAYS looks like the rear is sagging lower than the front. I've seen a BD before with some springs that made the back end higher than the front.. but im not sure what they did / what they used.. but it looked pretty good.

Anyone have any pics of the BD lowered on the 17" wrx rims? Also.. think they look good in gold?

02 WRX BBS wheels then? Those were some shiznit wheels, too bad they were just an option. :( I'm hoping ot pick up a set eventually. ;)

That's because the rear fender is designed differently to the front.
Get some WRX coilovers if you're that concerned about it.

Like Roger said the rear fender opening is cut lower than the front and it LOOKS like the end is sagging and it really isn't. I measured ground clearance all around my GT with H&R springs and the front was actually slightly lower. If indeed it's still a concern of yours buy a set of coilovers like Roger said and adjust the height to your pleasing.

yeah, that seems to be the problem as i understand.. it still looks bad however. Hmm.. isnt there just a set of springs i could get with diff height drop in the front / back that would offset the fender cuts? Hmm.. either way.. what coil overs would be a decent price / ride comfortability and not kill my pocket? Any? LOL.. prolly not.

voted for STFU. Get the ASA BBS replicas. It's a timeless style.

Most lowering springs i've heard of only give the mild illusion of the front being 'taller'. It's the WRX suspension conversions that I've seen sag. Which I remedied with the lowest friggin' springs I could find--Tien S-techs. Oy...rough ride.

Reason : That doesnt look bad to me at all.. just seems like when MOST people put lowering springs on.. it doesnt look that good. What was that car runnin? Was that yours, or?

Also.. wrx coilovers will work? Not the whole thing right.. just the coilover itself, or what? Hmm, I'm still pretty confused about what all springs / coilovers you can use on these cars. I know you can use some stuff from the impreza, wrx, etc.. but other things you cant. Haha.

Adds more confusion!

your spare tire will work with 17 as well actually donut rims is 17 itself if im not mistaken, but if you keep overall diameter of the wheel the same you wont have any problems mounting that donut on. correct me if im wrong (i havent had my BD for a year now) but your stock tires are 205/55/16 so if you go 17 you tires are gonna be 205/50/17 which is very close diameter tires. oh and if you dont want your ass to sag get wagon springs ( i meant your car's ass)

d1giPhux
03-11-2008, 10:01 AM
If i get wagon springs... wont the car be higher off the ground? Damn, wish i bought some eibach springs back when they were in production!

Also.. if i used 205/50/r17 .. would they fit the gap better.. or what? Why do most people run the 45's.. just because they are low-pro?

I'd go with the Rota SDR's in gold. They would look sick on your car.

I'd get those asa's if they were gold on the inside with a polished / silver face.. that would be TIGHT. I really loved the stock wheels on the 99 LGT LTD myself.. wish i could find a set in decent condition!

Those RS wheels look pretty sweet... if anyone else wants to whore out their car.. post it up! I wanna see some pics of them with the 06 wrx rims too.. and others! :D
