View Full Version : Burning some oil and smoking
My car does it in cold weather ,and only if it hasn't been driven in awile. I'm guessing since I haven't lost power, that maybe there is a piston ring that is leaky but not totally blown.
Anybody else deal with this?

Yo, what do you mean by smoking. Do you just mean a lot of smoke from the exhaust or is the engine smoking. How much oil is your car burning? I might be having the same problem but im not sure what it is. Mine smokes from the exhaust when warming up in the cold weather, of course this is normal but it does it a lot, and when I drive the car for the first few minutes it smokes a lot on acceleration. I know almost all old cars tend to do this and im sure there is a mechanical reason. So someone let use know(if this is your problem).

That's heat/condensation and water vapour you're seeing if it's white puffs on a cold day. Not oil.
Mine puts out blue smoke on cold mournings, but only on the frist start up of the day, and after the car warms up a little it completely goes away. It also won't come back for the rest the day. In warm weather it doesn't smoke oil at all.
