So I talked to boxer4racing this afternoon looking for some Legacy eibach's.. and they said that they use the 02 wrx springs on their legacy, and that they work fine. I asked if I would need to use different top hats / struts, and he said that I could use the stock ones.

Now.. I'm wondering.. if i get the wrx springs.. are they going to be exactly the same as the legacy ones? Or am i going to get the 'rear sag'. They told me i wouldnt.. but I want to make SURE.

I HATE REAR SAG!!!

If anyone can help me out, that'd be great! Thanks!

Get rear wagon springs and you wont sag.

I believe in order to use WRX springs on Legacy struts you need WRX isolators, which you wont be able to find anywhere unless you buy wrx struts...

in which case you should just use those, since they are superior to Legacy struts...

How many miles does your car have? It might be time for a strut replacement anyway.

I never tried to line up the wrx springs on my factory struts because my struts were shot. I have a friend who is running wrx springs on the front of his car and he is using the tophats from a wrx but the stock LGT struts.

I would be getting KYB GR2 legacy struts as well if i got the springs.. because mine need to be replaced pretty bad after this winter as well! They told me that i could use both legacy top hats, and struts if i wanted.. and thats what they ran on their race legacy. Hmm... just wish i could find more info out about this! Maybe I will have them send me a pic / specs of the race car! haha.

I was told the same thing from boxer4racing but I really would like to see the drop on a BD with 02 WRX Eibach Springs.

Here is a response from boxer4racing:

We raced a 98 Legacy GT Sedan and we used the Eibach Springs and Group N Top hats for the 2002 WRX Sedan at the time. So if you have a 98 GT Sedan you should not have an issue.

Eibach did drop the part number from their catalog but it is the same spring kit used in the 2002 WRX Sedan. Since we have raced both the 98 Legacy GT and the 2002 WRX and know they both have close to the same curb weight.

I wonder if any has pics...

I actually got an email from them today and it said:

We do not have any pictures of the Legacy online. The stance will always look lower in the rear than the front due to the cut of the fender in the front since the arch is higher. TEIN springs lower more front then rear and will take care of the appearance. If you go with a spring that lowers even front to rear it will always look lower in the rear. There is also coilovers which you can adjust for the appearance as well.

But.. i was looking into the eibachs because i really dont want ANYMORE of a harsh ride than stock.. but only want a tiny bit of lowering.. and really like the stance of the Eibachs. Can anyone who has them comment on how they ride? Everyone I've talked to says its as comfortable as stock.. so.. thats what i was going for.

When i talked to boxer 4 racing.. they said I didnt need to run any wrx components to use the springs.. do you think you could email them again mikeye and ask them that.. i think they are getting sick of me asking questions.. which.. kind of makes me hesitant to buy anything from them. Also, if the 02 wrx springs work with nothing else, i'll just get some used ones.

Hope to figure this out!

my bd on kyb gr-2 and eibach springs rides pretty stiff but i never drove it on stock suspension. it handles like its on rails though with some decent summer tires. i had some nexen 3000's on there and it stuck like glue on stock swaybars and endlinks too.

I can confirm the springs will work with our BDs since I know someone on my local forum that installed them...BUT the stance is not exactly the same as the BD Eibach springs themselves. I believe the user said that front and rear was higher and the person didn't have any pics... :-(

Looks like we are in the same situation here...btw I also have a 99 LGT 30 year anni. I found an amzing spring in Canada made by Ion Performance. They make them specificly for our BD/BG and the ride height looks amzing!

Hi Michael, to answer your questions:

(a) Yes the $350CDN + shipping + GST is the member discounted price.
MSRP
for our springs thru our various distributors is $499CDN+shipping+GST.

(b) As for pictures, we don't have too many customers who end up
emailing
pictures back to us. However to give you an idea of the factory GT vs.
our springs (drop wise etc) the following two pictures are one of our
local customers with a '97 GT Wagon (please note his tires are
205/50/16
so slightly lower profile.

The drop is 30mm front and 25mm rear (1.18"/1" respectively). Depending
on the transmission the spring rates are slightly different to compensate
for the extra weight. Also, our springs are progressive, so the 1" & 2"
compressed rates are different. The easiest way to explain/compare our
springs would be the difference between the regular BMW suspension vs. the
"M" suspension. It's supple enough to be comfortable, yet when you're
doing auto-x or on the track it stiffens up nicely to provide a very
rewarding drive.

^ Nice find on the canadian springs.. they are about $342 USD as of todays money exchange.. which is pretty damn expensive. I wonder how well they ride / how stiff they feel.. hmm.. know anyone with them? What is the company name.. ION? i think i've seen them on ebay maybe? no?

What is their site URL?

Hotboxer: how stiff would you say the eibach suspension is? Do you feel every crack / bump in the road?

I just don want to have people riding around in my car and having it feel like a piece of shit, making me apologize every time we go over some cracks or bumps in the road.

edit: just read a bunch of good review about them on this guys for sale thread over at legacygt.com

iON springs are common enough... do a search in the members threads. There's a green wagon from up in CA that has them installed.

I can't wait for spring to put my Kings on.

^ Kings.. what are those? and actually.. this is the first time ive ever heard of the IONs.. they seem pretty pricey.. and the name just reminds me of an ebay seller type thing.. maybe thats why i never paid any attention! I'd like to find out more about them though.. they sound cool!

FWIW no one has complained in my car with the eibach's. Even my mother (who did complain about my toyota pickup with rancho RS5000's).

i do feel the bumps and other stuff in the road buut its not nearly as bad as my buddies CRX on coilovers with the same spring rates. Ive never had any complaints about the ride except my grandma who thought i drove to fast to begin with. I dont think she had time to start whining about the stiffness. personally, i prefer the stiffness to comfort for the handling benefits over a soft setup.
