I'm getting ahold of a WRX engine to swap into my Legacy. I need to know if I can use my stock A/T transmission temporarily until I 1) Get ahold of a better A/T or 2) Do my S/T conversion. Either way I get the engine in a month and prolly won't get done til around this time next year and the engine won't be excessively tuned to race. It will still be my everyday driver........I'm getting off topic. Can the same transmission be temporarily used?

Ok, excellent. A buddy of mine is swapping his stock WRX motor for an STI swap leaving me with this grand opportunity to put some power into my Legacy.
Thanks for your help duder!
Anyone have some other advice for me and doing this swap. Everything I may need. Problems anyone has had. Post or PM me.

The project will be finished hopefully by this time next year. I thought about calling up ECS, but I don't really thing they would appreciate tellin dudes how to find ways around not paying them hahaha.

Call them, they're good people to talk to, they don't mind answering quick tech questions, as long as youre nice and don't try monopolize their time (they still have work to do after all) just say you're budget doesn't fit the transmission right now, what are you options in the short term, etc.
Also, unless this isnt the first time you'll be doing the wiring for the swap, it may be well worth the investment to have them do the wiring harness merge. They've done a couple of WRX-BE wiring harnesses I have found out...
