My wife has a 97 Legacy GT with twin turbo.... I have notice after putting a HKS intake and HSK exhust that the car has been running funny but it's only doing it intermittenly... When the car does it, it acts like it going to die, the RPM goes really low and the engine starts sputtering and also that I notice that I've been getting low, very low gas mile on this vehicle. One time the CHECK ENGINE light came up and it went away after 3-5 minutes. I haven't gotten the car diagnose yet but does anybody have a idea what could be the problem? Also I told a friend of my and he said that it might be the Knock sensor. I don't know that a Knock Snesor is or do... so please if anybody have any idea I'm open to any suggestions. Also I'm a newby at this, so bear with me. Thank you.

hey..welcome aboard.

I would start checking the intake vacuum hoses and any sign of leak. or reinstall the old intake and see how it runs.

I've done the smallest troubleshooting that I know. And no luck. When I did switch it back to the stock intake it did the exact same thing. I'm think it might have to do with the computer. Do you think the computer in the car has something to do it with? Do you think I have to reset the Computer? If I do, is that something I can reset manually or do I need the computer reading machine? Please keep in mind that I haven't done the diagnose thing at all, that is my next option. Any other suggestion? Thank you for the fast reply.

How old are the spark plugs and the spark plug wires? Might not be the intake at all, but an unrelated issue.

You can reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for 10-30 minutes then plugging it back in. The computer will then relearn how the engine is running and will adjust to the new air flow.

I would check for vacuum leaks... or make sure you hooked up the MAF correctly.

Yeah, get the Check Engine code pulled - it could be any of the above, could be a dead oxygen sensor, or something else. Even though the light is off now it may be stored.

Thank you for all the suggestions.... The disconnect the battery thing work? The intake does not make the starving noise I guess!!!... The engine seem to be running better. Thank you again.

Now I'm confuse... I have a Legacy twin turbo here in Japan... mind you it's a wagon and I also have a Legacy RS here in Japan. I'm trying to get, you know regular maintenance items like spark plugs plug wire and so on and so forth... I checked out parts of america (www.Kragen.com (http://www.Kragen.com)) and from the website there saying that both of my cars are 2.2 or 2.5 liter but from my Japanese title it is a 2.0 liter... so which one is it? My wagon is for a fact BG EJ22 enigne. my RS is a BD EJ22 engine. Well I guess I'm confuse. Thank you again.

I agree with Huffer. Buy your parts in Japan. America will not have the right stuff for you.
