Hello, my name is silent racer, you may know me from such cars as the green legacy with the baja hood. Many of you have asked me why I have sold my car, you believe i have sold out. The legacy was my first car, when I bought it I didn't know anything about cars. With the use of this forum and its helpful members, I got many ideas and tried out many things. As I keep getting pmed questions I can clearly see that some of you were inspired. This makes all the time and money worth it. I sold it because it doesn't inspire me anymore. It just became another camry to me.

But fear not.......rumor has it....I've been seen driving something else........something inspiring....more to come.

It will be cool to see what you have. I'm sick of my car being so slow myself.. but, not like thats going to change anytime soon unless i decide to drop 6k. haha.

I know how you feel all too much.

I feel this almost can generate another thread itself....

I know a lot of you guys were one here before myself, but, as new members come/go, I feel like my "class" of guys have had their say, their great/inspiring ideas, then faded out to obscurity.

Truth is, speed and reliability cost money. The nearest AWD dyno from me is like 300miles away. Subaru crews like Subiesport drop our car like a bad habit. There is no Subaru support in my area besides a handful of pretty cool Impreza owners. Being a Legacy owner means being a blacksheep. It means that anything on your car took a goddamn helluva an effort to get a hold because so few choose to stock parts that are builit specifically for our machines. It gets tiresome if you are living a modest wage because, it seems, most ideas we conjour up need quite a bit of custom fab.

For all you new guys, being a Legacy owner requires a certain...je ne sais quoi. And whatever this is won't come easy. The only way I've found, currently on my work salary and help support a family, is to to start from scratch. Like a pheonix, I guess...I'm drinking so I can be dramatic.....But essentially buying a body/frame dirt cheap and building as I go along.


There are certain things available for our cars than can DRASTICALLY change them, but it will take a lot of effort and time. A lot of bite the bullet and go for it kinda stuff.

hhaha, I don't really know what to say anymore.

I have a love affair with the BD that won't allow me to get rid of it. But there are ways for me to get what I want.

See I even considered putting on the AVO kit or doing a swap. The AVO kit didn't seem like a good choice to me because the legacy isn't built for a turbo, specially my auto legacy. A swap is a better idea but expensive and lets face it I'm not a mechanic. If something goes wrong, I have no idea, tools, or room to fix it. Besides the new car has a lot more than just engine to offer. The price difference seemed worth it.

I can understand, although my Bd isn't dirt slow ( no acursed 4eat for me!), it's no stormer ethier. My heart really longs for a late model F body or mustang Gt. I always grew up with muscle cars around...

Yup, its my favorite color of the new lineup. Besides when your shopping a used market, color is my least concern.

More details about the car on monday when I pick it up......you'll understand why i got this specific one.

Guys I have a problem. The trunk is full of water like up to the middle of the spare tire. The car is still on the lot, should I get a refund?

I'm jealous of your new GT BL! I loved your BE, many great mods, but I can understand the move up.

-Hopefully the water problem gets resolved. Good luck with your new canvas!

Ye, ill return it. This one is an 05 gt limited with only 12k miles. Thats why I wanted it. Very low mileage for that year...now i see why.

Yeah man, dont deal with the leaky trunk. Let us know how it goes. Unless they can replace all the seals and make sure it doesn't leak again.. might not be worth the water damage / rust that will happen in the future. Sucks that happened. :(

I noticed it before the inspection and pointed it out to them. However I didn't consider the implication of what I was looking at until later. I don't know how long the guy before has been driving around like this.

Did you get a car fax on it? I would. Thats if you cant cancel the deal. It could be something as minor as a week seal or as major as a bad repair from the past. But I'm sure you already knew that. If its too late to back out, have 'em strip down the trunk, coat it and give you new OEM carpeting for your trunk.

carfax was clean. I returned it no hassle. I was actually quiet pleasantly surprised that they understood the situation and didn't delay a refund or anything. Guess its cause I said I'm part of this subaru community and messing with me would result in national bad publicity........as happened to this dealership:
