Intercooler on a N/A engine?

Okay, might be stupid, might only gain me something like 5-10 HP, but hell i see used subaru intercoolers on ebay all the time for 5 bucks. question is:

Would it work, and would it hurt my engine somehow i can't think of. cold air, right?

Also, how much of a restriction would this be? I am running a stock air-box with K&N, soon to be de-snorklefied..... but how much would this hurt my low-end power, and would my this even work on my car?

The restriction you will see because of the intercooler will outweigh the gain.

The reason why you add an intercooler for a forced induction is because you get a gain 30-40% power gain because turbo and supercharger air is heated up so much from the pressurisation and hot turbo/sc. Its way hotter than ambiant air temp. because of the exhaust and friction from the turbine and pressurisation itself heats up the air. With a N/A motor the air temp in the intake is not much hotter than ambiant air temp so you dont/can't cool it off without a nitrous fogger.

An intercooler or aftercooler doesn't cool the air below ambiant air temp.

sticking a big restriction in your intake will hurt performance quite a bit.
