air intake...yet again

ok...i want to get this air intake i found...its for a 2.2/2.5 impreza non-turbo...i might be getting a turbo just the turbo and im thinking about putting it on my car but then again im not sure yet...would the turbo do anything to the air intake or just get in the way?

You're going to need a more or less custom intake, or find one off a WRX. you can't attach vacuum hoses to the positive pressure side of the turbo intake, you'll pressurize your crank case and fuxxor your idle up beyond use.

and yea pretty much any NA intake will be worthless if u do turbo.

im not putting any of these things on myself...im getting my cousin to do it probably...i want a turbo though :-( ...it would make me happy lol

I would definitely do a bit more research before you decide to turbo (aka blow up) your engine. Thought it might be fun if you know how to rebuilt it!

idk if im definitly putting it in my car...i might buy it just to have one...i might install it...or i might buy it and sell it to somebody on here if anybody wants it..

its from a '94 GTI...my friend had it and dragged it but she was driving thru the parking lot of her school and got t-boned...pretty much destroying her car

she does have an intake that worked with her turbo and a wrx has a turbo and its a 2l so idk it should work if i get her intake too

I think your way in over your head man.. just do some research before hand. That stuff is not easy the first time around from what I hear.. unless you REALLY know what you are doing. I know I couldn't do it myself.. thats for sure.

i will do some research before i install it but depending on how much she wants it for tells whether i get it or not

I've got two turbos and a supercharger. I'm not installing anything until i have everything required to make it work right, and not toast my engine instantly.

Before you put a turbo on there, you might want to put an intercooler inline with your intake. Basically it goes like this:

Filter, MAF, piping, intercooler, piping and then into the motor. It's like a triple cold air intake because your making the air even more cold.

If you want to turbo after that it's filter, MAF, piping, intercooler, turbo, piping motor. You want your turbo to get the coldest air possible. Colder is more dense, so you densify your air before compressing it in the turbo. Lots of power. :shock:

Topic is locked because it is just simply repeating the same information regarding adding a turbo to a stock engine vs. swapping.

Unless the OP (GTDrifter) can provide some substantial reason why it should be unlocked, it'll stay this way (as in, providing actual turbo specifics like model, inlet/outlet diameter). Not vague information about some girl's car that was t-boned and now there are loose parts.

People need to learn to read. Not rehash the same old ideas.
