smoked headlights! Nice! I read that thread by Fibuz over on Nasioc recently too :D

I would like to do that for my wagon. What did you use to tint the lens?

Gloss black spray paint.

Scuffed them up, 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of black, 2 coats of clear.

you should do a writeup. I'll have to get some clear, but I have the other stuff already :D I definitely want to try this!!

THAT'S F***ING SWEET!

Awsome job, looks nice with your grille too.

What did you use to lower your car?

its actually a lot more simple than i thought, after the initial nerve test of sticking my only pair of headlights into a 210 degree oven, it actually went very smoothly.

N_J: do they make that hood w/o the front extraction vent? In either case, can you post a link to the place you got it from, or a phone number?

Also, nice job on the headlights

thanx,

i got it from a place in NJ called wickedbodies and yes they do make them without the extractor, its a vendor for Erebunni products (which kick ass) but theyre always short stocked so it may take tham a month or so to get it to you. heres the web site.
http://www.wickedbodies.net/. I loved the hood so much that i went down there to visit the place.
i suggest you call them though because their web order form is not secure so anyone can get your credit card number. you can get their contact info here http://www.wickedbodies.net/contactus.html when you call ask for Edward he's chill.
deffinitely take a look at some of the stuff they've done, they just finished an extra wide body VW golf gti its flippin sweet/
looks like a mini 350Z

Norma: Thanks for the compliments. I will have to take more pictures after I put my wheels back on after I mount/balance/align them (hopefully tomorrow) Your lights look very good also. :-D

Badbasser: Thank you also. Uhmmm for the car lowering. My buddy works at a dealership and they got in a 2002 Legacy GT that was in an accident and was about to be totalled. Him and I pulled its suspension off, chopped a few coils off the springs and put it on my car. I DO NOT recommend doing this unless you have an EXTRA set of suspension laying around that you don't care about. For me, it was free so why not? I really hated the gap I had between the bottom of my fender and the top of my tire. It looks good, even though it is the WRONG way to lower your car. I am currently in save up mode for the Tein Flex type coilover kit.

OMG, good job, bad application, even worse recommendation.

Mark, he's got one-piece headlights that are protected by the outer lens cover. That's the only way he's getting away with literally painting his corner lenses. You need a product called Nightshades by VHT. It's intended for smoking lenses, and it weathers just fine, and it's also translucent. . . something HIS paint isn't, which is crucial to your safety and legality.

Perfectly legal in NY. Adhesive over headlights not legal, i tried it a while ago and i couldnt get anyone to pass me on inspection. although, triss has a good point about vinyl if applied to the plastic INSIDE the headlight its probably a much better idea because your turning signal and parking lamp would reflect better on it than it would on just paint. Of course, theres always reflective clear coat at your local harware store. i slapped four coats of that on thus giving them close to the same effect. messing with headlights isnt safe at all but there are many degrees of safety. Personally i have no problem with what i did with my headlights and if someone does tough shit.

actually, i thought about it after I said the above comment, and I would never paint the inside of my headlights....

I've heard of nightshades (perdue did a writeup) and I don't plan on using them because I got a picture of my car with clear corners and it looks really clean (not even a photoshop, the lens didn't pick up the amber at all in the pic) 8)

No no no.

When you take the NON-GT lights apart, there are 3 pieces. The front clear lense, the middle silvery garnish piece (what I painted) that goes around the outside of the headlamp bulb and on the sides where the blinker bulbs are, and finally the back piece where the bulbs are.

The garnish piece does NOT have anything to do with the headlamp and how bright it shines. Sure it might help a little bit with the blinkr, but since I took that amber piece off and the bulb is literally right next to the lense It looks just as bright as before.

I didn't make any points about vinyl. I keep my private life private, thank you.
