I'm sure these are stupid newb questions, but I could use some help regardless.
My wife has a '97 Legacy Outback. Her suspension has 115K on it. It never really rode that well (bought it with 49K on the clock) and is now in dire need of replacing. I used to have a '99 2.5GT which had a really nice, comfy ride to it. She'd like to get that kind of comfort for her LOB. She'd prefer to retain the stock ride height (we get plenty of snow here) but would be okay with a regular GT ride height (only 1" lower, from what I understand).
I don't need the car to handle for auto-x or anything, it's just her DD and kidwagon. The car easily has the worst suspension I've ever driven, but maybe it's a byproduct of the struts being dead. Anyway, it seems like I want to get regular (GT or L) height GR2 struts with some GT wagon springs and lower it down an inch, but could I use the OB springs with regular height GR2 struts? I read on here that the OB springs are the stiffest, but would the preload on the springs create WAY too much rebound? What do you guys recommend for my situation?
