In a few months I will be upgrading the suspension on my BD
I wanted coilovers, but after some suggestions from some of the great and helpful people here. I decided to go with simple Springs ans Struts
Now I'm stuck in another dilemma... Eibach or H&R springs?
--Which one is stiffer
--Which one has a better ride
--What are your experiences with one or the other
They both have a 1.25" drop, so no worries there
My BD is my daily driver and I drive 70 miles a day to work and back
Struts I'm going with KYB GR-2's
THANKS everyone

Good luck finding the 'Eibach' springs, if you have a BD series car. I've been looking for some for about 2 months now.. if anyone has any.. hit me up! :) LOL!
But serious.. they are hard to find. The only other ones that compare to the eibachs that ive talked to people about are 'ion performance' springs out of canada. They run for about $470 shipped and i heard they are GREAT springs.

The Eibachs have been discontinued, and the H&Rs look like they're about to go the same way.
My suggestion right now is to buy a set of H&Rs...even if you don't use them, you can always resell. Once they're gone, they're gone.

Just a question, why'd you rule out whiteline springs?
Out of those two though, from what ive read abou the two alot of people have the H&R springs...

I'd get white lines myself.. but, i dont really like the way the drop looks, and it takes what.. 4 weeks or more to get a rear set from aussie land?
I'm really quite interested in the ion performance ones right now... but i dont know if i can justify spending $470 or whatever on a full set.
Also, 4n70n1n0, i saw that you pm'ed me.. those eibachs you found online, they dont have them anymore. I emailed EVERY site you could possibly think of to see if they have them in stock, and no one does. you CAN however get the 02 WRX springs, and they work exactly the same.. according to the guys at boxer4racing.
They told me the springs are exactly the same, and that they use them on their race 99 legacy gt. so.. i'm assuming they are telling the truth. I asked if you needed to use any other wrx components, and they also told me you DID NOT. So.. it would be interesting to see.
Btw.. i cant pm back.. sucks, but.. i cant. Also, you asked me about the SPT exhaust.. man, i LOVE mine. Its not too loud, but when i want to get on it.. it sounds SICK and has a great rumble. Quieter than a magnaflow or other types which is GREAT if you live in an area like me where the cops are nuts. However.. it DOES sound louder than stock, and personally is my most favorite exhaust i've ever heard. Not to mention, its OEM made by subaru through bosal.. so if you DID ever get in trouble.. they couldn't make you take it off.
btw : Eibachs can be had here : www.boxer4racing.com (http://www.boxer4racing.com)
and the ion springs here: www.ionperformance.com (http://www.ionperformance.com)

yeah, i got my Whiteline Control Springs for about 275 for the set but it took about 2 months to get them here
I really like how the car rides and sits though on them. From of some of the others spring posts i have read the others tend to sag in the rear. yes i know every spring will eventually sag, but it just seems I read more and more about it on the ones you have mentioned.

It seems like all of them 'sag' because the rear fender is cut lower than the front fender unfortunately.. Do you have any pics of your car's stance? I didn't mind the white lines tooo much, except waiting that long seems a bit extreme. I heard the ion springs dont have the sag.. which is nice.
I guess If i really hated the sag too much, i could get some of those spacers that people were talking about on here a while back.
When you replaced your springs, did you use your old top hats as well?
How stiff does it feel to you when going over giant cracks and bumps and stuff? See.. i wanted to go with the eibachs, or some other type that offer 'near' stock comfort.. because.. i really dont want THAT much of a stiffer ride. The roads here are horrible.

You can see pictures of the install using the www link after one of my post.
I installed my springs with new group N tophats and Gr-2 struts. As for the ride. it stiffened it up quite a bit. I do notice the bumps and scuffs when i go over them.
over all it lowered my car about 3/4-1 inch.

Like BE's, can wagon springs be put on a BD?

Yep.
Same suspension design, front to back.

d1giPhux - Yeah, I bought a SPT AXLE-BACK from Mike in Bosal
I don't want to try the WRX springs. I might look for some H&R's or Intrax or the Ion
or I might get the sustec's that Andivic is selling

Ugh.. i wouldn't get the intrax.. ive heard they are crap. They look like ebay junk to me.. but i have no clue.
I think i might go with the ions.. since I dont have much choice for good springs from anyone else. Only whiteline.. and i dont want a harsh ride.

Any time you lower, you will experience a "harsher" ride. You have less suspension travel to absorb the bumps. You can have 2 of the following:
1. smooth ride
2. good handling
3. budget minded pricing
Pick two.

I thought you can't have 1 and 2 ?
I think I'll pass on the Intrax too - Can't find them and never heard of them until afew weeks ago
On another note - Anyone have a Outback rear sway and are willing to sell it?

Yeah, but there is a halfway in between. I dont really want to lower that much first off, and second.. i dont want a super harsh ride. Progressive springs seem like the better choice for what I want to do. A bit stiffer is fine.. but i also want a comfortable stiffness

I want to see someone do wagon Controls on GR-2 or some other wagon spring on their BD honestly (unless someone has already).
I think it would make for a tough looking BD.
Just my $.02.

Did anyone ever try emailing Eibach directly to see if all there inventory had shipped, or who their last distributor to buy these springs were? If they stopped production when they said they did, that would still say there are some out there. I believe they stopped production a while back and it finally filtered down.

Could not find an email on their website, but I spent 10 minutes and not more. I found a phone number, but I haven't called.

I tried to call them a few times.. but the hold was just too long for me to wait.. however.. i might try to give it another go again today since you reminded me of that. I'll let you guys know what i find out.
edit: okay.. so i called up the last 3 people who got them from eibach back in 06.. and none of them have them in stock, and havent for a while. Looks like this search is DEAD.
Thanks!

I ended up going way away from everything else. I found some RS*R springs.
I'm going to try them out. Never saw anyone with them
I still have to buy some KYB GR-2's struts now - maybe next month
