Tires for dirt roads, non-A/T tire?

Just as the title says, I'm looking for a tire that's good for dirt roads, not looking for a A/T tire and Rally tires aren't an option since this is also my daily driver and those would wear to fast. The size I'm going to be using is 225/60R16, the stock size for my 2001 Outback. Any ideas?

Continental Extreme Contacts. I've heard they're quite the good dirt tire designed as a street tire most of the time. My friend has them on his volvo, and his only complaint is soft sidewalls (so you can't corner like a madman).

Hmmmmm... that might work, or it might now work, since there are some pretty good turns in the road that I go on. Any other ideas?

I love my sumitomo HTR+ tires.. they are great on dirt roads. Also the sidewalls are stiffer than the conti tires.

How long have you been using them.

Seems like Sumitomo don't have a good rep for longevity of there tires. This was what I looked up on tirerack.com

I will say this though, I am impressed with the price, I think I may go with this tire.

I would think that you could use any M+S tire for dirt events, like a Nokian WR?

My sumitos SUCKED. Wouldn't buy them again.

So what sucked about the Sumitomos? Honestly anything will probably be better than what I have right now.
