Opinions needed

im looking into getting some rims, and i have some opions that i would like some help with. my first opion is Buddy Club P1 Racing SF wheel, and the second is A-Tech Wepon wheels.

That's the offset of the rim. I think stock offset is around 50 but I'm not sure. But the 48 will fit better than the 42. Depending on the size of rims and tires you can do the 42 without it rubbing.

17x7.5 42 or 48 offset. i was thinking about 225/45/17 or 235/45/17.

Stock offset for the majority of Subaru rims is ET53 or ET55.
There are some wheels that are lower, the BBS wheels I think are ET48.

ET48 is the lowest I would go... *waits for sybir to arrive*

could I talk you into getting at least a 9 inch wide wheel if you're gonna be running an offset in the 40s? I run a 8.5 +35 and wish I'd gone wider.

btw those a tech weapons are the same as the mb motoring weapons that discount tire sells. i wouldn't deal with enjuku, they have screwed some nissan guys here recently.

i personally have had good luck with them also, a couple guys have recieved bad motors here recently is all and enjuku has been less than accomodating about it.

For a 7.5 wide wheel, any offset from ~50 to ~35 should not rub not a BE. We have bigger wheel wells than you older gen guys. Now jsut to keep things simple, most aftermarket wheels designed for Subaru's will either be 48, 45, or 42 offset to keep things simple as those offsets will fit most cars with minimal (if any) rubbing.


There's been plenty of threads on this, and there's even a nifty picture floating around with offset specs. I have it but I don't have time to post it atm. Do a search.


Also, for all you BE guys I will be measuring my wheelwells for fitment of the most agressive wheel that can be done soon. I'll be sure to post up the results.

Aggressive offsets and widths are fun, but require a commitment to maing a lot of other changes on a car, usually including a half-decent set of coilovers and some fender work. I don't personally like recommending extreme setups to people who are asking basic questions about fitment because incomplete information can lead to making a choice that's not going to work right. It sucks, but it's one of those things where if you know, then you know what you need to do, and if you don't, it's better to get your suspension set up, and then figure out what wheels you can fit from there.

DOOK comes from the Nissan world where stretching tires on a wide wheel is the normal fitment. It looks great on his wagon, but it's a gamble depending on how stiff your supension is, how low your car is, and how and where you drive it, etc. Also, keep in mind that going to a 9" on a higher offset means you might not rub on the fender, but have some serious interference on the suspension side. It's easy for us to say "oh, run camber bolts and whack 'em positive then knock the assembly in with plates" but that's not a realistic option for most guys that are DDin'g their cars.

FWIW, on the same wheel (when it's not an expensive german or japanese wheel), the only thing that changes between a +42 and a +48 is the pad depth, not the spoke design or the lip. The pad (area where the lugs go) just has more or less machined on the back side where it sits on the rotor, so don't expect more lip from a 1-piece wheel by just going with a lower offset.

I'll be waiting for this... I'd love to be able to squeeze some 17x9 +30ish with the right camber settings... GTR faced advans here i come.

how much are those Buddy Club's? 42 and 7.5 width? for that offset, I would try to get an 8" rim, just to make that offset count at least.

Have you looked at the Enkei RPF1? Those are great 8" wide rims for the money...
