I H8 Thieves!!

After getting done with my three hour and forty minute business class this morning at Portland State I returned to the parking lot to find an attempted theft on my Legacy.

The thieves were very unproffesional. They basically took a screw driver to my drivers door handle and just pryed at it. I found a bunch of metal shavings around the door handle and area surrounding. I think they were trying to steal the entire car. They could of broken one of the side windows, but probably thought it would attract a lot of attention. The PSU parking lot is heavily trafficed, so I'm quite suprised someone would try this.

Thank God they were unsuccesful. I just upgraded my insurance policy today right after it happened. I am also getting a baller (wont mention company name or model) alarm system installed with all the goodies. Also bought a Club. It scared the shit out of me to think my Baby could be gone just like that. I'm also going to start lifting weights as I'd love to catch/ beat the hell out of whoever did this. Screw thieves! /end rant

I feel for you man. About two weeks ago, some A-holes broke into my Suburban. I had family out of town, so we decided to go to dinner and took the 8 of us in one car instead of riding two.

Busted out my rear window, with some prybar I think. They tried for the stereo but didn't get anywhere before getting spooked.

Mother%!^$ took a cup of Chuck E Cheese tokens in my center console of all things. A honda civic two spots down from me also got busted out.

My Burb has been sitting in the driveway for the last couple of weeks waiting on parts.

That's funny, Honda and Acuras are the easiest to steal..... not that I've actually stolen one :-? but I, well lets just say I know first hand.


peugoby- The Legacy is an uncommon car to steal since theres not much of a demand for them. But as you do mod them and make them look good (as yours does) it gets tempting. Maybe they wanted it for a joy ride? If you had a system it would have been gone (granted if the thieves knew what they were going and actually got into your car) But luckily they didn't. Good idea with the alarm and club, it should steer away would be thieves in the future.

Are you referring to the "club"? if so it's a safety device that locks your steering wheel.

Thanks for the support guys, it means a lot. I have a few friends @ PSU who are on NASIOC and we're all on the look out now for thieves in the parking structure.

There may not be a demand for them, but Subaru's are actually easier to get into because of the frameless windows. Glad to here the car was still there, but sucks it got damaged by some guys that obviously didn't know what they were doing.

Coincedentally, my university's security dept. just sent out the monthly newsletter, of the top 10 stolen cars around metro Detroit right now, 8 of them are made by Chrysler...

That sucks, could've been worse though.

I had someone try to steal my legacy right from my driveway.... they fully ripped off the the weather stripping between the top of the rear door panel and window. That's all that was done to it so I think someone had seen them and they took off. I found my weather stripping in the middle of the road that got ran over several times! Dealership said it'll cost $200 to replace the god damn weather stripping so i just got a pair of pliers and adjusted back straight again. Doesn't look the same but it'll do the job keeping water out.

:twisted: 2.5GT, I'm with you I would have thrown the Guy off the roof too. Infact, I would pay the full amount I have invested in my car just to kick that guys ass.

I was looking at my car in some better light and they definetely pushed my door in by the door handle. Its on the bottom right corner. It's not awful but noticable in the right light when pointed out. :cry:

I've been thinking about that, like a fuel pump switch...can any alarm install place do that or do I have to look around?

I had the screwdriver thing happen to my impreza wagon TWICE.

My solution was to bondo up and cover over the lockholes, repaint and just use the remote fob to unlock the doors/disarm the car alarm.

99% of thieves are just kids with a screwdriver, they jam it in the lock and pop that mechanism, then they do the same on the ignition switch and start the car that way by force.

With the lockholes covered up, they're all so stupid they don't know where to try. I left the hatch lock uncovered as a "safety" for me in case my alarm fails to unlock the doors. Been this way for 4 years now, and no breakins.

File a police report, as well. I think if you do, your insurance might cover repairs.

+1 for a kill switch. There's dozens of buttons on the dash. Who says they have to do what they say they do.

Sucks though that they tried to jimmy the lock. Your car is looking good and I know you take pride in the color matched bits and everything. People piss me off sometimes. Work for your own damn nice things, don't undermine the work of others... :evil:
