i just put my intercooler in and lately i've been hearing a very loud "air" noise that sounds almost like the BPV when im on half throttle with about 5-8 psi of boost. when i floor it and go to 10 psi the sound goes away almost completely when i let go of the throttle i hear the louder woosh of the BPV. is this a boost leak or could the intercooler just cause the intake to be louder and all i'm hearing is the air going in the engine? i also did the snorkus mod after the intercooler but i was hearing the air noise before i did it.

i accidentally cracked my bypass valve on the nipple that hooks up to to the intercooler. the crack is tiny and is almost completely covered by the hose. can a crack this small cause a boost leak that audible?

thanks

well one thing u could do is go over every hose from the turbo outlet to the TB.... also if u want u could use carb cleaner or something like that and spray that around connections and if the idle kicks up u found the leak... any other takers?

if the crack is after where the clamp tightens the hose, yes.

yeah i was planning on trying the carb cleaner technique tomorrow on lunch but i dont think it will work if its the bpv because it seems to me the crack is closed at idle and low/high boost its only at that mid point that the leak opens up. i'll try it anyways along with a better clamp because i have the stock spring style ones on the bpv.
thanks though

no im using the stock bypass valve
and i only hear the air sound around 5-8 psi but it varies
so not in vacuum only in mid level boost

ok well the fact that u dont have an aftermarket BOV rules out my theory... if u had an aftermarket BOV if it was set 2 loose it could have been opening up under a slight vac... rather then 20~ inhg
