All,

First post here so be gentle with me - Sorry it's a problem!!

My original key with a little button on works the central locking remotely on my 1995 JDM GT TT fine provided you stand close enough. I have got myself another key and also a remote fob but I am having a devil of a job trying to code either of them into my system. I know they are emitting an infrared beam as I have done the digital camera test.

According to the knowledge on the UK Legacy, Oz and NZ forums you remove the drivers side sill cover where you will find 2 connectors that you should connect which puts the car into programming/learning mode and you just point your original key at the roof sensor by the map lights and press - The system will then lock and unlock, afterwards you continue with your other fobs/keys - when you point the additional fobs/keys and press the button they should lock/unlock and when you are done you just unplug the connectors and retire for a cup of tea. However when I put mine in programming/learn mode the original key does what it is supposed to but niether of my additional key/fob seems to work.

Another method is to try turning the key 15-20 times etc but this doesn't work and I don't appear to have a button to press under the drivers side dash either.

I can only presume that everything is connected correctly as my remote central locking and my secret code on the handle works as well and I have been able to reprogram that OK.

Does the system have a maximum number of keys/remotes you can store? If so how do you reset and start from scratch?

Has anybody actually managed to reprogram another remote fob/key on a similarly aged Legacy using any of the above methods? If you have can you confirm the step by step procedure please?

Getting fed up with this now!

Best regards,

David

I doubt that we're going to be of much use, as US made Legacies of the same year have RF transmitters for the remotes, not IR.

Wow, they made IR remotes? That's news to me...

Hi,

I suspect that although the US cars used RF frequency the principle for coding and adding keys may well be the same?

Any ideas on top of what I have already tried gratefully received

Best regards,

David
