Does anyone know exactly what I would need in order to successfully transplant a 2.5 Turbo into a 2001 Legacy GT Sedan. I'm not very knowlegable in these matters, but I would assume I would need the following:

1) ECU from the turbo motor that I will be using
2) Transmission? I have an automatic so I beleive I am limited as to the
engine I can get
3) Drive train
4) Turbo exhaust
5) Engine of course

The first thing that comes to mind is the baja turbo, in essence it's like the legacy turbo we never had, and it came as an automatic. I also beleive the B4 RSK twin turbo also came as an automatic but I know that transplanting a JDM B4 RSK twin turbo engine does not appear to be an option as I heard the turbo is routed via what would be for us Left Handed Drivers, the steering column. Any comments?

I inquired about the labour of installing a turbo into my car and the labour alone would be $2700 as the wiring is a nightmare.

Thanks

wiring is a nightmare anyway u look at it. just do a turbo converion if u really want to. it is easir to keep the N/A 2.5 and build it up. i am keeping it N/A until i can't go any farther then turboing it. goo luck

Sounds pretty straightforward, is the stock n/a 2.5 strong enough to simply add on a turbo or do you need a stronger block. Let me know how you make out. Just wondering if I need to upgrade other parts like the drive train, tranny, etc.

I think you might need the following:

engine
turbo cross-member
ecu
fuel tank (dont need if you dont mind a CEL light)
engine wiring harness / car harness from donor
exhaust

i dont think you need the differentials.. depending on which ones you have in your car? I think.. im not too sure on that.

anyone else with some info.

Thanks

BTW, why would I need a fuel tank?

You will want an LSD if you can find it for the rear.

If I were you, I would also do a 6MT swap. Why deal with a tranny that will never properly hold the power you put through it?

Too much trouble swapping out an auto for a manual, can just use the auto tranny from a 2004 Baja Turbo instead.

The GT comes with LSD.

keep boost to 6psi on stock motor. it can handle that all day. upgrade internals to sti grade then u can turn boost up to 14psi.
