weird sound!!!

guys, there is a weird sound coming out of my engine... it sounded like this.... "tikitikitikitikitik"! during low and mid rpm... what is that weird sound and how can i get rid of it?

its a 2000 legacy gt... 2.0 twin turbo... the ticking sound comes from the engine... everytime i step on the gas and if its in the low and mid rpm, the sound comes out...

you know im getting the same noise, it kinda sounds like someone has a metal rod inside a tin can and is rattling it around? i just dimissed it as lifter knock bacuase i need an oil change!

Could also be an exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold. Check the exhaust manifold where it bolts up to the heads and see if there is an abnormally black deposit around it where the exhaust is blowing through.

I have the same thing!! I;m actually getting a pro to check it out tommorow. If he finds out what it is, ill leave a reply. I've been getting the same suggestions and all i want is new damn engine.

yeah...my dealership ripped out my 2.5 and placed in a 2.2 it makes a ticking sound but loud music makes everything (but my ears) better lol

hey guys, my mechanic checked it out and said mine had something to do with the valves. he said for 600 bucks, its just to rid of the ticking. He said i wasnt losing compresion and my car had another 2 years in it and that wont be the killing factor. Hope that helped.
