I put in a Eclipse CD-3100 a while back and love the unit but want something a little more "fun." Wanted louder deeper bassier.

So here goes.

Pioneer AVIC-D3
Alpine MRP-M500 for Subs
Alpine MRP-F300 for Speakers
??? Subs
Infinity Reference 6022si 6.5" Speakers in the Doors

So far I have the AVIC-D3. Ill be ordering the Amps sometime this week as soon as I hear from my cousin. Speakers are coming from Crutchfield, but theyre on backorder. I dont know what I want to do for subs yet. Subs will be a great deciding factor on how things are installed in the trunk.

Check back for updates!

do you want tight clean bass or some obnoxiously loud mofo's that you hear coming down from around the block?.... price limit?... trunk space you're working with? but i guess you are somewhat limited with the 300x1 @ 4 ohms...

Eclipse CDA-3100 Receiver (Ive had this for a while)
Alpine MRP-M500 Mono Amp
Alpine MRP-F300 4-Channel Amp
Alpine 10" Type-R Subwoofer
Alpine 6.5" Type-R Component Speakers up front.
Kartboy spacers. (I might end up taking these out..the spacers hit my door panel)

So far Ive started on the amp rack. Its the right shape I want, but its not carpeted yet because I might need to move it back (towards the rear of the car) 3-4 more inches to make room for the sub. The sub will be mounted in a sealed enclosure, .65 cubes, firing through the arm rest. The baffel will be set back 2-3" from the back of the seat. I was going to build a box on the side of the trunk, but Im already losing enough space as it is. Wiring is ran down the driver's side (Power and 2x speaker cable) but I forgot to run the remote wire also. Speaker wiring is ran into both front doors...this was quite a bitch. I ended up having to slit the gromets at the corners so I could just make straight runs. I need to run the wiring down the passenger side (Interconnects and 2x Speaker Cable)

Im spacing the amps and crossovers off the rack. Holes are drilled in spots the amps cover, so I can tuck the wiring underneath, so the amount of wiring visible will be minimal, and no loose holes will be visible. Amps are spaced 1", the crossovers will be spaced 1/2" or so.

I ordered a pair of KnuKoncepts Distro Blocks, but decided to go with the StreetWires Combo block instead. All the rest of the wiring is KnuKoncepts. 4AWG from Alternator to Battery+, Battery+ to Distro Block, Distro Block to Ground. 8AWG between the Distro Block and Amps. Fuses under the hood are KnuKoncepts Mini-ANL Pieces. Interconnects are also KnuKoncepts, as is speaker wiring. 16AWG between the Crossovers and Components, 10AWG between the Amp and Crossovers, along with between teh Amp and Sub, inside and out of the enclosure.

Im debating if I want to use Black carpet or Charcoal carpet to match.

Eventually, I want to replace the CD3100 with a Double DIN DVD/SatNAV unit, or turn my HP SlimLine into a CarPC (New Case and DC-DC Power Supply) and put a 6" Screen in the dash.

Stock D-DIN radio is left as a filler..didnt want to stack 2 pockets to fill up the BE Legacy's Triple-DIN hole. Also, with teh faceplace on the CD3100 removed, and the stock unit sitting there, no one suspects a thing. ;)

Obligatory iPod.

View from the back. Two holes on the right of the amps is to hide the wiring for the crossovers.

See how the wiring gets tucked under?

Amp hardware. 1.75" #10 Screw, 1" spacer, washers. All stainless. Retail on the hardware was over $20! Once I throw the carpet on Ill be loctiting the nuts to make sure they dont work their way off.

Oops..forgot to rotate the pics. The Distro block is the only place you see wiring coming directly through the hole.

Im not sure Ill be using an AVIC-D3. I returned the unit I had. Like I said, Im either going to buy another unit (possibly another D3), or running a CarPuter setup.

Everything is installed and rolling. System needs a tune but sounds great as is. Front woofers hit the door panel, so Ill be taking the Kartboy spacers out and praying the speakers fit without them. Headlights dim pretty badly.

Components in the front and a single sub out back is balanced pretty well. The sub definitely negates the need for "rear fill"

Pics tomorrow?

At the Battery. Positive: 4AWG 150A to Alternator, 4AWG 120A to trunk. 10AWG to headlights. 10AWG to fusebox. Stock wire to starter. Negative: 4AWG to fender. 4AWG to Alternator Bracket. Stock wire to engine block. You can kinda see the 4AWG from the firewall to the engine block out back.

try and double ground the battery... i did this in my accord when i was running my system, had a zapco 100x2 on my highs and a jl 1000/1 on my w6. i also upgraded to a yellow top, but alot of guys i know either run a dual battery setup using an isolator (heres where a guy ran it on his tacoma [http://bajataco.com/dualbatts/dualbatteries01.html]) or add on a big capacitator. that should eliminate your dimming situation and not kill your electrical system[/url]
