Drop in Oil Level---- please help!

This is strange, i have a 95 LSi and for some reason, it seems as though the oil has been dropping for no reason... there are no leaks so i'm getting it's getting burned?... my exhaust isn't spitting out white smoke so idk... btw... car has 161k miles and headgasket was replaced at around 95k

anyone have suggestions on what it might be?...

how much oil are you losing and how long a time period.

Boxer motors are like seives when it comes to oil, especially higher mileage ones.

Also check under the car for any obvious oil leaks.

I was losing about .5qt every week for example...turns out the oil filter had gotten a little lose when the temp. suddenly dropped from 60 to 20F last fall (michigan yay).

well last oil change, there was only 1.5 qts that came out, out of the 4.5 i originally had in there... it's due up for an oil change right about now, and i checked last weekend before a 200 mile drive and my oil was low again... didn't even reach the L on the dipstick.... there isn't any oil leaking, at least nothing noticable on the ground.

is there any discoloration in your coolant???

hm, i'm going to have to check that then i get home for the weekend.... i forgot all about that...
