i'll start the list.

falken ZE-512s

they scare me... they stick alright and are ok in the rain, but you try to push then on nice pavement and all you hear are the different pieces of tread flappin, its terrifying!

next time i'm getting some P-Zero Neros

chime in with tires you'e had bad expiriences with!

That's odd. I know a few guys that have them on their RS, 2005 LGTs etc.

What do you mean by "push" them on pavement? You mean launching?

I was thinking of getting some.

What I DONT recommend is any allseason from Bridgestone or Michelin.
Bridgestone are ok for grocery carts, and Michelin's are overpriced.

i have a buddy with 512's on his wrx that i've gotten to punish a fair bit. I like them; they have a decent sidewall and the low pitched howl they make is super cool.

Potenza RE-92's

I now have the urge to go to the dealership and slash every set of RE92's I see, in order to save everyone.

I really dont think this needs explaination, but put quite simply, they are the worst tires you could put on a Subaru.

by push i mean WOT through curve and i mean really flogging them.

i've always had michelins, or BF Goodrich, or Dunlops, the big names of normal tires so i'm used to a single smooth tread. these have about 7" of a different piece of tread.

they suck. if you guys could see how i run the curves in my car, it might catch you off guard. i really beat the crap out of tires. not the rest of the car, i am good to the clutch, i rev match, i don't redline, (5700 is not redline heh just clean it out a bit)

the tires take it all.

Michelins are "overpriced" because they're the only ones that fully back up their claims by full researching. (not to say that their marketing is all accurate....) Research costs money, but makes a better tire. I have michelins for summer tires (although I will be going performance from now on) and we have Michelin Pilot Alpin tires on our Honda in the winter, and they're awesome. Pricey, yes.

That's just my schpiel....(however you spell it)

I've run several sets of michelin mxv4+ tires, and they're really excellent, balanced tires. Easy to control, quiet, and solid in all conditions. Butt-ass expensive too.

im really tired of hearing how terrible re-92's are.

I'd steer clear of kumho mx's and anything with a treadwear over 600

I've put 35k on my legacy, and its on its 5th set of tires.

I had the Kahumo mx on my car when i first got it. I liked them, took corners well and hardly made a sound in really hard cornering. Bad tread wear though. went through them really quick.

I have Pnero Zero MS on the car right now and they are a good tire. Dont grip as good as the Kahumo MX did but with all the driving i do i need a tire that will last and has some control and stick. They push in hard cornering but what can you expect out of an all season tire. Price is really good too.

I like my Kumho MXs. Gobs and gobs of street-tire grip - it's probabiy possible to 2-wheel the Legacy on the stock suspension. Very sticky tire - it kicks up pebbles and stuff. I've put 5000 miles and a few Autocrosses on them and they seem to wear predictably. With most other tires, the way I drive, the outside tread blocks are chewed up by now. The Kumho MXs are one of the few tires acceptable for really competitive autocross use.

Also don't autocross on the Continental ContiExtremeContacts - the outer tread blocks will get rolled right over to the sidewall.

Oh, and the General Ameritred G4S tires suck in every way - but that's what you get for $39/each.

there's a class action lawsuit going against kumho because of the durability of the MX. Buddy o mine is part of it, his 2nd one to pop resulted in a totalled car.

How do you guys feel about the Toyo Proxy 4 tires?

I personally dont like them. Make tones of noise, didnt grip well at all. Bout the only thing good was the life of them i guess but i really dont know as the car was totalled before i could get any use out of them or handling mods dont to the car.

I had (still do) a set of Goodyear Eagle F1-GSD3's on my Impreza.
Outstanding in wet/dry conditions. And plenty of life, I have 2 years of continuous use on them.

I may have something to add to this thread when I put my stock rims back on for winter and run the Uniroyal (sp) all seasons that the dealership put on my Leggy when I bought it. I am running BFGoodrich Traction T/A's in the summer. Good handling, but can make some road noise at slower speeds. Just don't drive slow and you don't have to listen to it!

i'll have to wait and see how those are, heard they are the cheapest possible tire you could buy... I've never heard of them before, so I guess that could be true.

BFG Scorchers are not a great tire, in my opinion, and it's probably a good thing they don't make them anymore...
-they hydroplane unlike any other
-the sidewall is a little soft so when you go barreling into a corner you can feel them give and that is not the most confidence inspiring feel
-the rubber is soft, but they still don't feel like they grip
-if you dive into a corner at a speed you know you can take it at (and i'm not talking excessive speed, a safe speed) the tires scream like they're giving, but aren't
-everyone is constantly asking stupid questions about the color of the rubber

When I bought the my 98 Leg GT, they had Vredestein Quattrac II's, those things stuck to anything, I beat the hell out of them and I was pretty impressed for a tire company I've never heard of. They were excellent in the snow and rain, never once have I ever hydroplaned and snow stopping was incredible. Unfortunately, after changing over to my WRX suspension I didn't get an alignment right away, and aside from eating away my wheel bearings, I wore out the inside of my front passenger tire. My center diff wasn't too happy with it so I just bought 4 brand spankin new Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S's, and I am really impressed. I have read about people compaining about the sidewall not being that rigid, but compared to stock tires and what I had, these are amazing in corners. Dry grip is great, but wet grip is amazing. I had the pleasure of driving through a near monsoon 2 weeks ago (alright...so not as crazy as New Orleans, but for Stratford CT its the most rain I've seen in a while) Main street had about a foot and a half of water flowing on it, and when I went to park behind my buddies truck...if I had opened the door I wouldve let in 6 inches of water above my kick panels. I didn't see that it was flooded almost up to my friends doorstep. However, not once did I lose traction, and believe me I tried, deep water, running water, nothing, it was solid. I only have maybe 600 miles on them or so (got them 2 weekends ago), so we'll see what happens when I break them in a bit more. I can't wait until it snows to see how they hold up, hopefully more impressive than my last set.

So long story short P-Zero Nero M+S's get a thumbs up from me.

Thumbs Down: Bridgestones - just not a fan, only heard bad things about them. Kumho Ecstas in general wear out faster than any tire I have seen on a street subaru. They are very sticky but you're lucky if you get 15,000 miles with them.

OT: hmm...looks like I'm going to be buying P-Zero M&Ss in November. Anyone had experience with them in light snow? 2" at most? The roads are normally cleared and salted by the time I leave for and come home from work, especially on weekdays. On weekends, and when the DOT is caught off guard by a snow storm or something, I may chance running in some snow. These tires do well enough to double as a winter tire if driven at a reasonable speed?

Really? I pounded on my Kumho KH11's, and I got 25k out of them. Albiet, I flogged one so hard that it went flat on a logging road. I was also running the tires underinflated, which is why it went flat.

Do you have any more info on this? I did a quick Google search and didn't find anything. Just curious cause I own those tires and plan on buying them exclusively for a while :)

I do not recommend Dunlop. I had some version before I bought the Pirelli's that were crap. Pirellis are awesome. Too bad I lost them to a nail through the sidewall. I am currently on ES 100's. I will be back on RE92's with the 05 GT wheels I am buying. After that I will get the Hankook Z212 model since I don't need all season anymore.
