Snap fitment question : 215/45/R17 +45 spacing?

Hey folks. Sorry to do a snap question, I like to do more research first, but I have to go get the girlfriend from work. Would there be rubbing issues with 17x7 +45 running BF KDW T/A at 215/45/R17? Thanks for the help. Sorry I was not able to do more research before hand. The guy is holding them for 2 more hours for me, then he calls the next guy.

If you run moderate -ve camber you should be able to make them fit. Worst case you might need to roll the rear fender lip a little.

Your wheel bearings may not like them so much, I'd try to stick between 48 and 53 on a 7" rim. That said, if they're a deal then I'd buy them and sell them if it doesn't work out.

I'm lowered and get a very slight rub in the rear with a heavy load and my front fenders are rolled. I wouldn't worry too much about wheel bearings, I've been running this setup for 6 years and haven't had any problems.

your STi Ver5 Inverted Struts / Eibach Prokit Springs isn't any difference with stock '02 wrx suspension with Tein lowering springs on it?

i'm planing to switch over to my buddy's wrx suspension and might run 17''

Hey guys thanks for the input. I went and put a deposit on them so he would hold them for 24 hours for me. Ok, last two questions........

If I got a set of spacers, what size would you recomend to prevent rubbing. I was thinking a 5mm. That would put it at +50, kinda in the middle of what people have been saying.

Second, she is going to be lowered a little here in the future (next paycheck and shipping time) about 1.25 in the from and 1.5 ish in the back. You folks see much issue with that rubbing. I know I might have to just be a test pilot on this stuff.

If you're lowering on TEIN flex, you won't need a spacer, just roll your fenders.

Hey thanks Huffer. I think I am going to do this. He also has 205/45/R17. I know that I would be loosing 1cm, but I don't think that I would notice a difference. What do you people think? I guess I am getting bent out of shape by the whole rubbing and blowout worry. Thanks again! Also, and risks of running either of these while I wait for the TEIN's to arrive? I am honestly thinking of going with the 205's, but I would like the extra road contact. Help! lol

Stick with the 215. Rubbing the fender only happens when you fully compress the suspension. Don't drive aggressively until you get the TEIN's.

Or, you can adjust the camber yourself, it's not that hard, 19mm socket and wrench to loosen the camber bolt and just set it to the max neg. camber you can get out of them.

You WILL hvae to roll the bloody fender to get that setup to fit. 205 55r16's were rubbing with a +46 offset on my BK wagon.

There is alot of difference in these setups... the ver5's have better dampening than stock WRX struts and can handle a lowering spring better. And I'm sure there is a difference in the springs rates between the Legacy and WRX springs.

Cajual, WOW. That Legy looks GREAT!

Adding a 5mm spacer would do the opposite of what you want... the spacer makes the offset lower (+40 in this case) and pushes the wheel further out towards the fender.

If you stick with the 215's, you're probably gonna have to roll the fronts once you get lowered and maybe the rear... camber adjustment will help too as rougeben suggested.

Alright folks, I did buy the tires last night. I went with the 215/45/R17. I have already talked to the local Subaru shop that I go to, and he said that he will roll the fenders for me(not a baseball bat job).

The tire is the BFGoodrich KDW T/A NT. The rim is the MB Mesh X. It looks a lot like a 17" 98 Snowflake. I really wanted something that would not be supper flashy. I honestly was thinking of the JDM 17" GT-B rims. I think I will be very happy whith those rims. After all they are brand new in the box for $90 each. Tires were $140 a pop, but again, they were new. I feel bad that the guy was on financial hard times, but he does have some cash now. Pictures will come when I get home from working, on Thursday.

OH! most important! To date, under heavy braking and turning, there has been no rubbing! Even with my girlfriend in the car, all was well, with no rubbing! We will see what happens with the BK lowered! Thanks again folks!

2.5GT, when I get home, I will get that picture for you. I really think that we should get a thread going with tire information and PICTURES. I wont be home till Tuesday night late, so the earliest that I would have the picture posted would be Wednesday.

I should be ordering the coilovers on Wednesday as well. I will be sure to post progress pictures.

Oh, one last note, I have NOT rolled my fenders. I am also still on the stock suspension, that has 140000miles on it.

2.5GT, there is 110 percent NO rubbing! They are great. I did not have to do anything other than put them on. No spacers, not rolling the fender. I might have to roll them once the Flexes go on. Once I get home, I will get the picture from the back.

yeah, reason i ask because, when i looked at my rear tires, there's almost no room...like less than .5" to the side of the strut. so im worrying it might rub..lol

Yeah, what is what Sybir has done and he was running 235's if I remember right! So far, there has only been two times when I got rub. both were under very hard cornering, and a slight dip in the road. Just heard a hint that they touched. I love the BF-G's. Great tire! It does try to wander a little in the morning when the tire is cold, and on michigan roads. (Roads fault mainly)

yeah...right now im running 215/60R16 on stock suspension...and gets rubbing on the back wheels...even worse on dips/drain holes.

but i figure i'll go with coilovers and 17" wheels by the end of this summer?? :eek:
