I'm looking into a suspension upgrade for my 1999 GT, what do you guys think of this setup?
KYB GR2s

And then either H&R Springs

Or B&G Springs

Any opinions or suggestions?

Either combo should be fine.

I'm looking into the same investment. Please post up your impressions once you've done the upgrades.

I'm doing the same thing here pretty soon.. just with eibachs.. and also, where can one get some cheap new top hats? Is it really necessary to replace them?

I'd replace tophats. They have bearings, and can wear out.

I have a pair that were only 4 months old when I took them off the legacy. I'll post pics when I get home tonight, in a FS thread with you having dibs on them.

I went with the H&Rs, both should be here by Monday. I wasn't going to replace the tophats, but maybe I should?

I thought mine were fine when I started pulling my suspension apart in the old legacy. I had one almost split in half on me--10+ years of salted upstate NY winters took their toll. You can always upgrade to groupN pieces. :-)

^bd stuff will mostlikely sagg in the rear because of the extra 150+lbs in the rear the sedan doesnt have... well the best thing for off-road is 50mm coilovers.. but thats too extreme... umm maybe some 04 forester xt struts and some lowering spring for them. shouldnt drop the ride height may even raise it... will have higher spring rates that the legacy lowering springs... but then idk how longer the forester strut are that the legacys. *just an idea*

will the forester struts bolt up and all?

H&R makes Wagon springs specifically I belive...as far as the struts go i'm pretty sure the KYB's would be fine on a wagon.

Please post pics after the install :D
I'm about to do the same to my 98 BD, but I don't want it too low. I think the H&Rs lower it too much, I am getting the GR2s though

This is a pic a couple of days after the install, the springs haven't full settled yet, but they're pretty low, definitely lower than I thought they would be.

How is the ride? and also did you replace your tophats. i think this is next on the list for me. 120k on stock suspension... its time

Ride is great, I couldn't be happier. Got rid of some of the horrid body roll I had before and it is much more stable and responsive, however the ride is much more comfortable and smooth than I expected, which is a good thing. I wouldn't recommend it to someone looking for a really hard, stiff suspension, but for a DD like mine, I'm glad I can drive it long distances without hurting my ass. I ended up not replacing the tophats, so far no problems. The rear sags a hair, which bothers me, but it's not really that bad.

Sorry, I know none of these are very good, they are the best I have right now.
