View Full Version : EBC, unimpressed

I went to replace my front axle today, and when I removed the caliper from the rotor the material from one of my EBC brakepads cracked off and fell onto the floor. :?
They had 43k km on them after 2.5 years and still had plenty of life. I'm not sure whether this would be considered a 'good' life for such mediocre performance. Luckily I had my old set of Subaru pads laying around that I could throw on.
I guess I'm more pissed off that they failed and could have left me in a bind.

are EBC's glued on or rivited to the backing plate?.. never used them only hawk's... but thats a loss at least you had some old pads till you buy some new ones

I was not too pleased with the performance of the Green stuff pads either.
Which compound did you use?

Ive heard lots of bad things about these pads. I currently have the axxis ultimates on my car and i LOVE them. They do have a bit much brake dust however.. im kind of debating whether next time i should try out the 'deluxe' ones.

I had the Greenstuff pads. They are definitely glued to the backing.
A lot of people have suggested hawk and seem to be quite pleased so I will probably try those next time

Yeah, I have the hawk HPS's right now. They're a good all-around pad. They dont have that initial bite like the axxis ultimates though...

That's really wierd, I didn't have a problem with mine, but I only drove them for 8 months or so anyway.
Do you autocross or anything? I can't imagine my greenstuffs lasting more than 18 months with 6 autocrosses per summer. I'm definitely going to be looking elsewhere for my 4-pot pad replacements. This is disturbing. :-?

I didn't have the problem that shazapple had, but the greenstuff seemed more like an OEM replace type pad than anything else. I didn't like how to needed time to warm up in really cold weather most of all (below freezing).
When I autox mine, I didn't really have a problem with them, but then again, I only used the greenstuffs when I first started, so maybe my perception of them would be different now...
had greenstuff and redstuff in the past on a different car... all in all I thought they were crap. I won't be going with them ever again.
