Hi all, thanks for taking a read.

Anyway I have had my legacy (97 legacy GT wagon) for a few months. Basically no real issues, the CEL is on due to a bad O2 sensor, but I havnt found the time to replace it.

I also have a bit of a misfiring issue, I had some codes thrown back when I got the car for cylinder misfires on all 4. I replaced the plugs, checked the wires and Cleared the codes. Went a long time without any trouble.

The other day, I used the car in the morning, ran fine. Then i went to go out in the afternoon, and the car wouldnt start. Cranked like a champion, but wouldnt catch fire. So I left it, and went back in for the night. The next morning when I went to work on the car to find the issue, it started without problems, I hadnt even popped the hood, just tried it first.

the car worked for a day, then went back into the non starting issue. I pulled the plug wire, getting no spark. Tested my Coil and the primary resistance is supposed to be like .5-.7 ohms. I am at 1.2 ohms, the secondary resistance I am right at nominal.

So i decide to check further back, not getting a spark signal from the igniter. I get 12 volts on the center lead of the connector like I should, but not either of the spark leads are doing anything.

I removed the igniter and figured I would just replace it. Call subaru dealer, $347 and 3 days to get one in! so i went back down, put it all back together and the car wouldnt start still.

I checked the Cam and Crank sensors, both good. Checked for fuel, have it. put the injector back in, and the car started fine. Runs very smooth, and has worked for 2 days since.

I worry everytime I use the car that Im going to be stranded at ... the bank, or macs milk or something. Any good ideas?

Long read I know, thanks in advance for your help!

Jeff

If you'd like a spare ignitor to test let me know, I have a couple laying around. May also have a spare coil. PM me if you'd like them.

Thanks for the offer, its been a while since I was back here. Its been 6 or 7 weeks now without issues, so I will just leave it for now till there is a problem again, if there is...

thanks again though! Not sure what the issue was
