ok i dont have any pics of it. also i think its only a BE/BH leggies. under the rear of the car rightside, there is a box looking deal. subaru calls it a vapor canister. i would like to know what it for. anyone out there know what its for?

I might hazard a guess....that it's part of the evaporative emissions control system.

Yes, its a canister full of charcoal to keep you from passing out from gas fumes...or to keep the gas vapor from building up in the gastank and potentially turning your car into a rolling fireball. :wink:

All cars have something similar.

Well, it's primarily to keep fuel vapors out of the atmosphere. Since the fuel tank and system is sealed, you need somewhere for the vapors to go as the pressure in the fuel tank rises as things heat up in there. Old cars, the tank wasn't completely sealed, and would just vent to outside air.....

Not unless you get a check engine light. Usually these only fail if the canister cracks.

on my previous LGT, mine failed and made it a royal pain in the ass to fill up the gas tank. Every time i would try to fill up at a pump, after about 2 seconds the pump would click and stop as if the fuel tank was full.. but i think it was because of all the built up pressure.
