WHP?

guys, i've tried to google this but i'm having a hard time finding the answer...

what is the WHP and BHp of my legacy? its a JDM twin turbo 2000 legacy gt.

bhp is either 250 or 280 depending on which motor you have.. most likely 280... and whp is most likely 220-230(based on 280whp) but it hard to give you an estimate. so i might be off on my numbers for whp. *this is all stock estimates also*

even on stock, thats a lot of Hp... though legacy models specially wagons are heavy as far as i know.

how can i maximize that power? do you guys recommend weight reduction? where do i start?

make it a 2 seater. everything behind the drivers seat get rid of. that should be about 250lbs. i dont just mean seats. i mean everything to were you will see the body. an exhaust and intake on that car will help a whole lot. lookin into a Apexi exhaust for it.

*Sigh* I am Contemplating what to pull in my car too, the Leggies have high HP but Weight to Power ratio sucks, The Panels are heavy, the PW motors are heavy, the Chip board thing over the spare tire in the Truck alone is weighty. the BH/BE's are even heavier than BD/BG's which sucks lol

I came across a type of plastic, i cant remember the name, i was thinking about buying a few sheets and change the two side glass windows in the trunk.

weight to power ratio really sucks!!! i'm planning to chanke all my windows to plastic or something close to that... may take out the seats at the back but i'm having second thought on it... coz i might need it in future use...

I wouldnt go change all the windows :lol: The reason i would change the trunk ones is because they dont need to wind up or down.

The Legacy isn't that heavy, especially not when you consider the extra weight in the driveline...

If you're car's auto, your stock engine's HP is 250, factor in age and drivetrain loss and you're looking more than a 30% reduction.

If your car's a manual, your stock engine's HP is 280, factor in age and drivetrain loss and you're looking at around 20-25%

Not to mention the subaru boost control pieces aren't the best, you might not even be making full boost. I was coming up 1 psi short on mine and my friend was short by 5.5psi on his sti.

Some would say....
Take care of the moving weight first. Coilovers, aluminum brake calipers, forged wheels, crank pulley will all take a little bit of weight off. But it makes a big difference.

Lexan is a bad idea, it scratches very easily. Got a power moonroof? Take it out and have metal welded on. Or just take out the motor.

I drove a TT BD and a Turbo GC, not sti, a regular turbo wrx, The bd is much heavier than the impreza, not to mention my GTB, I thought they used the same driveline components?


The Legacy hood alone prob weigh 2 times more than a Impreza hood & the door panels are the same, you can feel the diffrence.

Many of the JDM WRX GC cars shipped out with alloy hoods, not necessarily badged STi's. Subaru Japan is just a freakshow when it comes to parts mixing.

In regards to your question - the GCs are lighter because the panels are different. Even a thousandth of a inch thickness difference will make quite a large weight reduction over the entire car. Even paint can create weight differences.

The driveline really isn't that heavy - when comparing Subaru vs. Subaru.
It's more about the body of the car, and the heavier suspension components like the A-arms.

2nd gens are not that heavy at all.

I've weighed mine before. Without me in it, a full tank of gas and some luggage it weighed 2,700lbs.

I'm sure that a Limited AT Outback wagon weighs a lot more, but they still aren't too bad considering their size.
