After months of contemplating selling my 97 L, and a few weeks of placing ads and meeting some real winners. We've opted to keep our 97 BK. for now. She's only got 117k and has been barely driven in the past year.

Now before anyone goes cheering (j/k) I have to say that this **might** be temporary. I opted to keep this on the road, and have really restrained myself from riding my sportbike (I know, I know... :banghead: )


I'll probably bring it back to the shop and tear her down for a refresh for cosmetic reasons. I just did the knock sensor (pita) both TPS, tune up, and a/c rebuild (yep, Condensor was F.U.B.A.R.) and she runs well. 1st thing I'd like to do, is swap the suspension out (not surprising huh?) and was thinking of modding my transmission (if possible, Valve body) and going with a new wheel and tire combo (preferable OE as well). Any other suggestions? Aside from what i wrote and $4 digit$ mods (ie. motor swaps, etc..)

Without the rack.... Was thinking of removing the sideskirts permanently or painting them???

Overall, she's been good to us. The missus doesn't drive her anymore after getting the Scion in her grip, so I'm choosing to resurect her somewhat. Any tips or suggestions are welcome.

Keep the rack and paint the side skirts. That alone would make the car "look" lower. If you need some parts pm me what you are looking for.

Paint the wheels when you paint the skirts... and swap out for a hidden antenna along the windshield.

Glade to see your keeping it. I think painting the front lip, mirrors & side skirts would do a lot for it.

As for suspension I'd look to pdm-racing.com and order a set of Whiteline wagon specific control springs and a set of KYB GR-2's.

I think bronze wheels go really well w. Ruby mica.

They're actually gray, and the drivers seat needs attention.

DeadlyDave: My car is an L. It had cloth and then I swapped to leather.

Huffer: I like the hidden antenna idea.

Peugoby: I like the newer GT wheels. I believe the come w/ MY '05. I wouldn't paint them bronze, but a friend of mine wants to show me a set of Blitz wheels (not sure what kind yet) that had the centers painted bronze with a 2.5" polished lip.

I had a 96 GT that we drove for awhile and then I stripped and sold. That came with this interior and lip. The guy who used to own the GT before me was a big a$$ salesman. He wore out the drivers seat, but the rest of the seats had almost no wear. He had no kids. Just used the car for work and every dealer visit was paid for by his company. When I got it, It was near mint with 163k on the clock and the #1 cancer of all 2.5's from that era. Blown gaskets. So his company opted to move on. I got it, Rebuilt it, drove it, had this with low mileage (59k@ the time) that i had just finished rebuilding. I bought it salvaged. After having 3 cars (2 Legacy wagons and a Toyota Previa<--loved that thing :grin: ) and a YZF R6 @ the time, something had to go.


Sadly, Teh Missus dropped the hatchet down. The Yamaha!!!!!!!............or the GT!!!!!!!!!!................ and the most badass of the bunch had to go. She went to another enthusiast and his daughter. All the way from Vermont.
