Hey guys i have a 95 Legacy lsi. I was thinking about running a pipe from the air box to my fender and have a make shift CAI, but still look stock, Since the cars not in my name :D lol. But i was wondering if you guys know if its worth it or if it even gains power. thanks.

Gains are worth it. That's how you're supposed to do the intake on a MAF based car.

Do eeeet!

I used the e-bay intake that was for an RS on my 98 and love it. It was $50 shipped to my door. Would I do it again? YES!!! Had to cut it down to fit with the stock air box and get some 3 inch tubing to connect it to the MAF. Unfortunately the tubing I got was not very flexible so I had to butcher the pipe. When I get around to getting a Throttle Body Spacer I'm going to have to replace the Pipe and tubing  since I butchered it too much. Also found a site on line that sells Silicon Tubing in various lengths, diameters and colors and will use them to get it since no one out here in my neck of the woods carries it.

Well I dunno about you guys but with my intake ('95 L, as noted on my sig) what I did was to take the snorkus and whatnot off, and drilled a literal shitload of roughly 2cm diameter holes into the forward facing side of the air box below the air filter, which isn't quite a cold air intake, but certainly an upgrade. I guess one could say that the upside to this is that you could mod up some form of tube from the top of the fender to a sort of pyramid shaped piece of metal that could be taped onto the air box for a sort of instant CAI... the plus side being that when it becomes excessively wet you could then REMOVE the extra bit and just have a normal intake (albeit quite a bit louder when you mash on the pedal a bit )... I could take a picture tomorrow as proof of said airbox chop-ery. The great part about this is that unless you know what you're looking for, you're not too likely to just up and notice it too quickly.

I had bought an AEM intake off one of my freinds for 30 bucks little modification required, since it is from a 99 2.5rs

Something like this?

that looks alot safer than a CAI. I would love to do a CAI but we have bad floods here in IL during the summer and then we have to deal with the snow in winter! I think i'll just fab up an intake and route a tub like your's up to the fender to get some cool air up there. Sure I will still get heatsoak but not as much as I would if I just put a cone filter on.
