Fairly certain the "Intake Air Temp" sensor on a MAF-equipped Subaru Legacy is part of the MAF sensor itself.

why not research for 5 minutes and save yourself 5 bucks?
A. they dont work for shit
B. the "plug and play" "chips" are not compatible with MAF operated subarus
C. they are a 10 cent resistor
if it were that easy, wouldnt everyone do it
ive got some beachfront land in nebraska i will sell you cheap.
EDIT: which of the advertised claims were you going for? horsepower gains, or fuel economy? cause those "chips" claim to increase both. but if you have spent more than 10 minutes around a motor you know that wont happen.

Heh. If the timing advance tables in the ECU on the earlier subies is anything like the mapping in my WRX, you would be shocked at what you would see... A lot of... Well... Nothing, really.
Simply put, there's already more timing advance built into the engine than it can use. Causing it to run more than it currently is simply will cause the knock sensor to make the ECU pull timing.
If you have a bad knock sensor, then the temperature timing compensation will not be used if you have a hot intake charge. This means, you could pop your motor. Or damage it.
There's a table that simply looks at the IAT sensor, and when it gets over 100 degrees F, it pulls 1 degree of timing or something small like that. Every 10 degrees up, it pulls another degree or two of timing, until it gets to 140 or so, then it goes up to -5 degrees of timing. This is there to save the motor. Do you really want to be running full timing advance with an intake charge of 170 degrees F? I don't think so.
