I removed the scoop backing plate...and the heat insulator blanket which basically flaked off and trapped a lot of leaves...
It's metal, and used metal screws. I kept it around so in the rainy months I can avoid having a lot of water flood in. I think I just saved 2lbs off the front end. But I filled the washer tank, so that negated the effect.
I'm hoping that having the scoop open will inspire me to have the car swapped.

I'm pretty sure it'll at least 'inspire' you to change your knock sensor.
you have pics with the sidemarkers on yet?

Hey what? Hmm, maybe I should reinstall it then.
Haven't done sidemarkers - I had to repaint them and there was 3 coats I had to strip off...
I have had such a 'mare with my brakes that a cosmetic addition is the last thing on my mind. I only took the backing plate off because I was waiting for the brakes to cool down...dragging pad + stuck slider pin + frozen caliper = extremely hot brake.

Ok, so the backing plate is going back on... my knock sensor died this morning.
What a PITA to get to, it's not even cracked, it's just failing to work.
I relocated it to a new place on the block, STILL triggered the P0325 CEL.
However, I did lose about 6-7lbs off the front end by removing the weight on top of the front jack plate.

i kept my on the hood, but bend parts of it downward to direct more air flow in...
