ok here is my grill as it stands today!, well the picture is from like 3 months ago, but its still the same, just cleaner. ANYWAY

i dont know if i should
1. Paint the grill to match the car and install mesh behind
2. just install mesh behind
3. CF the whole thing

kinda tight on cash so i cant buy a JDM but i have everything to mod the exisiting one!

Cut the vertical pieces out.

I would agree, cut the vertical pieces and remove the carbon fiber. Too much carbon fiber!

But if you cut out the vertical pieces, you might want to look into getting a narrow metal rod to stick behind the horizontal piece (since it will be heavily weakened due to the removal of vert. pieces). You can pick them up at home depot for like a dollar or two.

I'm just going to throw out that I like that carbon fiber. You can get some real convincing vinyl to replicate carbon fiber, and it's a small touch on your car. If the stuff looks legit, then I'd say keep it on.

If it looks like checkerboard, then I'd take it off.

hunn???? to much CF, you can never have engough CF besides my grill the only CF that I have exterior and interior is my dash trim, so how is that to much CF, not like I have it plastered over hood..............cause thats lame.

I love CF and since I really have very limited funds i think im going to paint it color match to the car... the whole thing and the CF over where the CF is now!
Im gonna take your guys suggestions and remove the vertical piece, since there mostly broken off on the bottom anyway, courtisey of a friggin bird

PWT(plays with toys) did you not notice the CF vinyl that was on there now???? I took a little piece of CF and redrew it in Illustrator, I print out all my own CF vinyl so I have unlimited supply to it!

Cut the vertical pieces and CF the outside trim edge of the grill

The CF vinyl I have seen is multilayered and is basically fiber sandwhiched between adhesive and a clearcoat, so it looks the stuff. Personally if I did CF vinyl, this is the only route I'd go to try and pass it off as CF. Mazda used a CF'esque pattern on the window trim of their protoge's on the exterior. It looked good without trying to pass it off as true carbon fiber. I'll see if I can find a picture of the vinyl I'm talking about.

yeah pleas if be really interested to do that, sounds like it wouldn't be to hard to accomplish, like take 1 layer and make it the silver color, cut where needed, lay it over a black piece of vinyl and then do an overlam of clear, my only concern with that is it would get pretty thick and not durable like vinyl is so the curves and stuck might become a little tricky, and i wouldnt want to use a heat gun becuase the layers might seperate!
