View Full Version : How to remove rear mudflaps?

I was going to put on the rear spats on my 02 leggy L, however, I couldnt remove the stock rear mudflaps that came with the car.

I believe there are two bolts holding on each mud flap. When I was trying to them out, they just kept turning but didnt come out at all.

Does anyone have any experience removing those stock mudflaps before?

um i just removed mine, to paint them are your mudflaps the JDM style aeroguards like molded to your body or are they just rubber mats???

mine had 3 bolts holding them on 2 in the wheelwell and 3 underneith

your problem might be the platic part in the wheelwell broke away so the bolt has nothing to grab to, so its just spinning, at least thats what i sounds like to me!

yeah its a plastick clip with thread inside and they do tend to break once in a while.

When I lowered my car i drove off a curb. Them suckers came right off! You might want to try reachin in there and grabbing the clip with pliers to hold it while un-screwing.

No, just need a small 1/4" drive ratchet and maybe some pliers to grab whatever is left of the clip in behind the rear bumper.

You may get a better view of it if you go under the bumper and look behind where the flaps are installed...

I believe I could reach the clip for the top bolt but not the one on the bottom

the rear you should just be able to stick your head under the back end and look up!, They should be right there!, Just reach your hand up there and feel around, .............


that was a little dirty!

Found a shop that is willing to remove my mudflaps and install my spats for $40 on monday

not so bad...and I can also refund my $12 of double-sided tapes
