Yep. Looks like I should save my money and buy a turbo model down the road. It was only marginally quicker than my car. It was a 1997 Outback Sport with an EJ25, EJ22 dual port heads, reground cams and UEL headers. No exhaust past the cats though. I was quite let down. He sold me the his old single port heads and exhaust manifold for $25 though (the main reason I went to see him). So now I've got an extra set of heads that I can pull the cams out of, get them reground, then port the heads.

Next I've got an exhaust manifold, so I'll make a jig based off the mounting points, get some measurements off the mounting flange and I can probably get some machine time at my company, or use the school's waterjet to cut me some flanges and make my own single port equal length headers. At $25, I'm not out much, but now the frankenmotor project I've thought about is in serious doubt.

Turbos are boring.

To an extent... But diesels are hot. And a low CG, sporty, diesel wagon with a 5 or even 6 speed? Yes please.

Either way, Disappointed with the franken motor... But laying out the new header design will be fun.
