Umm, my legacy will sometimes make a whine (sounds like dry metal to metal) when i'm rolling really slow, or when i have the wheel fully turned and start moving. I'm thinking it might be the caliper because the rim keeps getting alot of brake dust and the others arent. Not sure what else it could be. I think theres a bushing (the one connecting 2 rods together near the front of the caliper) that split. Could that be making the noise. Help anyone?

You have either:

1. sticking brake pad (could be stuck slider pin or frozen piston on caliper)
2. stone in the rotor

I am dealing with a similar problem whereby my caliper has frozen, and is constantly applying pressure to the pad and therefore chewing up the pad and rotor.

I can only drive 3miles before the wheel is too hot to touch.

If your calipers are older than 8 years, just buy new calipers, pads & rotors.
It's a bolt-on job after that and you'll be set.

^--- +1 Best route to go, if you can swing the cash.

...and this looks like you're talking about the tie-rod end. Have it checked out and replaced then aligned.
