Thought I'd throw a few pics up real quick. Nothing special as I haven't taken a whole lot of pictures of this thing yet.

When I first bought it:

Dude you live in STOWE?? That's so sick. I would love to live and ski there, but I can't afford the lift tickets lol. Nice looking car, you should do yellow fogs next!

99SUS SFD
05-19-2008, 07:29 PM
Yep, sure do. You're not the only one who can't afford the lift tickets, haha. With their $400 million expansion project up there I can't imagine lift tickets will go down in price.

Thanks. Yellow fogs? Hmmm...

nice looking car you have there.
i see you had about as much luck as me with the clear sides and chipped of some of the plastic

Thanks for the link.

Yeah a couple of pieces chipped off. I started with that side cuz it already had a bunch of cracks in it when I bought it. So I figured if it got messed up too bad it wouldn't look a whole lot worse. You can't notice it until you're up close. I may buy new ones eventually and really take my time to clear them. I kind of rushed these since it was starting to rain and get dark.

do you have the 6 disk changer under the passenger seat ?

Nope, no CD changer. I did a double-take when I saw your pics, I was wondering who stole my car and took it out.

Installed the JDM tails today. I bought them yesterday and they came today. Not too shabby.

nice work, looks good.

why is it that some BDs have the tailights offset from the center garnish ... do you guys know what i mean? like in your SUS,
it looks like the center garnish is higher than the side tails.

99SUS SFD
05-28-2008, 07:50 PM
Thanks. Yeah I know what you mean, they don't quite line up correctly. The stockers were the same way.

WinterKnoll
05-28-2008, 08:01 PM
Looks great! And about the center garnish, I think that might be because the trunk isn't closed 100%. I'll bet even though it is latched, it might pop up a couple of millimeters, see if you can push it down while it is shut and it will probably line up a bit..though I'm not sure if there's anything you can do to fix it lol.

 Thought about the projectors but I think I'll keep what I have. Since I'm putting hide-a-ways into the corners I wouldn't want to spend the money for projectors and then go cutting them up.

Thanks. Yeah I am...our whole department is.

I'd love to change up the rims (like those dark grey RS wheels) or the 17" JDM's, but that's not in the cards for a while. Too bad too cuz these wheels have seen better days.

05-29-2008, 03:43 PM
Cool. I had JDM Projectors on my BD and had planned to put hideaways in the opening for the extra marker light. It's more forward facing than the corners, but it looked like it would work pretty well without having to drill huge holes in the lights.

99SUS SFD
05-29-2008, 04:22 PM
Yeah I saw that in another thread somewhere...perfect spot for them. I'm hoping with them in the corners it'll be better at intersections. People hear the siren but don't know where the hell it's coming from until I'm behind them/in front of them.

Are you on a dept.?

Yeah, I'm a Firefighter EMT. I volunteer for one station and work for a small department part time. My full time gig is with the county's ambulance authority who is giving my a 4% raise as well giving me a full ride to paramedic school this year.

Thanks! I'm starting to get the bug more and more for this thing even though I promised myself I wouldn't spend any "unnecessary" money on this thing. After I dropped all my money into my Jeep, then wrecked it, I said never again.

So I either buy stuff that I don't need for the Suby, or I work towards my goal of buying a motorcycle...

Went out tonight and attempted to be creative with some of my shots. A couple of places I wanted to go to were closed off and the lighting wasn't exactly what I was looking for. I tried to snap the LED's at work (they're all synched, just can't tell from the pics) but they flash too quick to show 'em.

Thats a great SUS, one of the best I've seen. The green works really well on it. I like the tires as well as the additional rear lights. Are those rear fogs?

The grill on the SUS is unique & different than any other 2nd gen.. I'm lovin it.

99SUS SFD
10-05-2008, 07:49 PM
That's the debate I've been having with myself. They look great on GT's, especially with the JDM fogs but I'm not 100% convinced it's the right look for me. That may change when I put the JDM wheels on.

10-05-2008, 07:57 PM
that chop was made using headlights that were bigger than the ones you had in it huh? thats why it looks funny. try finding a better picture to put them on and they will look fine. especially since I see them all the time on regular outbacks.

Haha yeah, it was from an eBay ad. I had a hard time finding a good donor pic (same lighting, etc.) They may look halfway decent in person.

Where have you seen them before? Would it be possible for a picture or no?

99SUS SFD
10-05-2008, 08:28 PM
Here's a different one. The passenger side isn't quite right. These aren't as shiny either, a more natural looking chop.

I got the SPT exhaust from eBay. Mike Bosal sells them for the wagon and sedan. I wouldn't see why it wouldn't fit your car. Do an eBay search for SPT axle back mufflers and you should be all set.

Thanks for the comment.

Did some debadging today. Only took off the AWD and SUS badges for now. I'll take off the Legacy badge if I can confirm it won't leave holes behind. Also will take off the Limited badges too.

Washed it and used some Back to Black on the front and rear bumpers.

I'll take off the Legacy badge if I can confirm it won't leave holes behind.

The Legacy badge will leave two holes behind - however I do recommend debadging, cleaning up the area, hitting the badge with some fresh paint and re-installing with some waterproof silicone around the inserts.

Eventually I will completely remove the holes I have and weld them shut...

wow dude...looks pretty sweet de-badged!! how long did it take you??..notice any color dismatch?

99SUS SFD
10-15-2008, 04:44 PM
Didn't take long at all. Hair dryer, goo gone, dental floss, all done.

There's a little discoloration but it's not bad unless you're looking for it. If you do it on yours I'd imagine there won't be any at all.

Thanks Huffer, that's more than I feel like getting into at the moment.

Installed the Paranoid Fabrications grounding kit this morning, then tackled the Stromung mid pipe this afternoon. Exhaust work is a bitch when it's all rusted, you're lying on a gravel driveway, and you're by yourself.

Unfortunately it looks like the deal with the JDM 17's is going to fall through. I think I'd still like to get some in the future, but was also looking for recommendations.

I was kind of hoping you guys would offer some suggestions. Ideally I'd like to find something close to the color the lower portion of the car, but ultimately I'd like what looks best IMO.

I like the B4 RSK wheels but not sure how they'd look on my car.

99SUS SFD
11-18-2008, 07:10 PM
Here are a couple of options I was thinking. This first 'chop was quick, I should've tried to make the wheels "fit" the picture better.

http://www.4x4wh.com/forums/uploads/post-1-1227053288.jpg

Or RS wheels:

RS wheels. They look tougher.

99SUS SFD
11-19-2008, 10:52 AM
Yeah I know those are really crappy 'chops, but I didn't have much to work with, haha.

Yeah I think I like the RS wheels better than the B4's, but now it sounds like the JDM wheels from Denis will be on their way soon. If, for any reason, they don't show up, RS wheels it'll be.

Thanks for the opinions.

looks like the weather we've had here lately. Bet your glad you have the extra ground clearance with the SUS too! Projectors look great man can't wait to get mine on. Stay safe out there in the winter madness (wonderland)

Yeah the extra ground clearance definitely helps. That's the only thing from stopping me from lowering this thing. Thanks for the compliments, you're gonna love having the projectors on your car too.

Now I gotta wire those LED's...hopefully this weekend.

Finished re-wiring the existing LEDs and siren as well as wiring up the new LEDs. Took a video, but it's kinda hard to see. The white LEDs flash too quickly to really show. The red LEDs in the corner are a different flash pattern so you can kinda see 'em. There are also red LEDs in the rear but I didn't film them. They're boring.

Hopefully this works:

Thanks. I'm about to head outside and see how bright the lights are with the projectors and fogs on too. Good thing I don't have a big stereo anymore, there's a lot of power being drawn right now.

You should relocate the windshield ones to your hoodscoop

+1  j/k

I see you got some good use out the city lights location. Theses lights are the easiest and best to add strobes. So many places to put them.

99SUS SFD
01-05-2009, 10:13 AM
I may move one of the dash sets to the rear window, but I'm not sure yet. I saw an 05+ LGT that had strobes and such and someone had mounted some in the hood scoop. Pretty cool actually but nothing I'll be doing. They'd have to be small LEDs to fit in there.

Yeah I was impressed with the amount of room in the JDM lights for mounting locations. Definitely made it easier.

Huffer
01-05-2009, 11:54 AM
That looks awesome.

I think you should move one of the dash pod lights to the rear, or even mount it low under the grille. If you got an earlier or JDM style grill you'd have just enough room to tuck them under there without having to cut anything.

Badass EMS!

01-05-2009, 03:13 PM
Thanks Huffer. My original plan with the dash LEDs was to have them go across the entire width of the windshield, but the rear view mirror got in the way. I'm not keeping the dash set up the way it is, I don't like it. They'd look good in the grill but unfortunately these aren't waterproof or sealed.

I guess people can do this to their vehicles henry, but it'd have to be for "show purposes only" and off road use only I believe. Otherwise you're begging for a ticket.

Any thoughts on where I should take this thing next? Lowering it is not an option at this point. I'm out of creativity at the moment.

03-11-2009, 02:23 AM
ummm......

maybe a light bar?? that would add to the sort of rugged look and really help out off-road. you could also buy another stock grille and do a DIY custom one. i dunno you really can do anything it just depends on what you want to get out of it and what you're willing to pay. good luck!!

99SUS SFD
03-11-2009, 09:20 AM
Yeah I had thought about something like that, but I'm not sure if it would conflict aesthetically with the 17's.

I had thought about getting the tint re-done since the stuff that's on now is ripped in a few spots.

Hmmmm....

99gtlimited
03-11-2009, 12:00 PM
or you could tint your fogs...

in my experience the yellow really helps bring out the edges of the road much better than stock.

Installed the Yakima rack tonight after work. I took some quick night shots, I'll take better ones in the day once I get everything cleaned up.

I had to remove the rain deflectors that had been on there for who knows how long. The old adhesive is still on there, and this is just a test fit to see how everything worked and how it looked. I just need a mountain bike mount and I'll be set.

Haha, frighan cat. As of tomorrow that pic won't be necessary, the wheels will actually be on there.

The rack is definitely worth it. Had I waited about 12 hours, I could've gotten a brand new Thule rack for a better deal than this used Yakima was. Oh well, live and learn. Now I just need the bike mount and I'll be set.

Not to change the thread but do you know if 99 SUS bumpers fit on a 99 2.5GT? I like the SUS rear bumper better than my stock, which needs some work and paint. I was thinking of swaping for the SUS bumper. I'll probly post a thread in the swaps/conversion group anyway but thanks for any input.

Just picked up some noise makers. Not a fan of the design of the subs but oh well. That's not the actual amp on the box, I forget which one I just got, haha. Not a bad deal...$400 for 2 brand new 12s in a box, with an amp, 4 gauge amp kit, and 4 6.5" Infinity speakers.
