Used Tein Coilovers... Should I?

Hey guys, I know I haven't made basically any posts as of yet, but I'm here to post an important question: Should I buy these (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-Subaru-TEIN-Coilovers-BG5-Legacy-1995-98-Coilover_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33590QQihZ002QQitemZ120261429940QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW) (<--- Link)?

I know they're used and whatnot, but the seller seems to have nothing but good reviews, and they look like they're in pretty good condition (certainly better than my stock struts/springs :lol:), and I have a check for $1109 sitting on my desk that is available for my use as of tomorrow. It appears as though if I'm the only one who bids on these, I'll only have to pay 600 dollars (it says in the description that they have a flat shipping rate of 95 dollars to US+Can), which is essentially what I'd have to pay for a set of lowering springs and some GR-2's...

What do you think?

hell yeah i would. teins dont go bad often and if they do you can get them rebuilt(cheaper and buying new ones) here in the states. go for it i say. i would wouldnt go over 700 for them.

Excellent :twisted:... I had actually all ready decided that I'm going to call them tomorrow and tell them that for 600 with shipping I'll buy them out right, and on the spot. Especially considering even CHEAP new Tein's are roughly 1500 a set! :lol:

Oh man I didn't even notice where you live, Airgne (at least when you're in the states, I guess). I forgot, how far is Oak Harbor from the Kent/Renton/Auburn area, anyway? We seem to have a Scooby meet here in Auburn every Saturday night, though I've yet to go to one.

That's my friend Jon's (said civic is for sale though, he blew a headgasket) absolutely retardedly modified '88... He swapped in an H22 from a '90 Accord LX, and fabricated all the mounts and various tubing himself, and recently (late last year) turbocharged it using a knockoff (I think) T04E, and of course had a piggyback ECU fully tuned by some guy in Yakima. Easily the only Honda around that I don't absolutely hate with a passion. :lol:

TEINs will go bad just like any other shock/strut. Sometimes quicker because they're valved differently.

Well after a few hours of heavy thinking (55% of my monthly income is quite a bit of money to throw around all at once), I ended up deciding against them. I will, however, be doing an entire interior overhaul this summer, as I actually plan on selling the Legacy, but it'll be magazine-worthy first... Afterwords I'll be finding a used Impreza Coupe in AWD trim ('95 or older, due to a lack of OBD-II) to build up with what I can only hope will be an EJ20K. Should be mildly interesting, and I've got some pretty sweet ideas for both cars going on, of which I will of course take pictures and do write-ups and whatnot along the way! :wink:
