I run 225 on my wagon and I do not think I would go too much wider, without using a different offset anyway.

well the outbacks come stock with 225/60/16 and legacies come with 205/55/16 so the widest tire you can run will depend on which combo you have stock. the wheels i want have +38 or +40 offset and they are 18x8.5 so im gonna try to run 245 or 235 tires when i get the wheels.

245 is the widest I've seen crammed into a sedan...using coilovers though
FWIW, my track is pushed out about 10mm on each wheel on the front with sti control arms, running 225, I have more clearance around the strut, which is usually the first thing to rub when running wider tires on the BE/BH's...
I'm tempted to try for 235 but have no reason to at the moment...

So will 245s rub struts with 17 x 7.5 offset +48 or will I have to go to 235s?

So even just going 225 or as high as 235 is fine?

Never mind 225, even 225s will seem pretty good even if I upgrade the rubber.

255 35 20. no rubbing, no mods on suspension. had them on for just for 2 weeks to see how it performs. which really sucks, catching into the groove in the lanes, plus its f****** HEAVY. noticeable gas milages lost.
